New Dash Panels - Flounder Pounder vs. Tecnografic

Yikes! I'm dealing with Connor and was hoping to have my panels this week after ordering 2 weeks ago (that's what the invoice said). Looks like I need to give him a call. Boats going in the water in about a month.

So what are you doing with the thin strips that adhere to your old panels for lighting up the switch lettering? Connor told me my lettering would illuminate with lighting from their panel, not from the flat strips.

I’m really liking the new forged carbon fiber look, but I’m not sure I can afford to have dash panels made from it

Question for the guys who replaced their dash panels. Did you have these thin strips with wires stuck to the back of you panels? I can only image they are to illuminate the lettering when you turn your running lights on? What did you do with them?
Thanks

I ordered my dash with the Sea Ray logo back lit in blue, white during the day.

Will post pic's when I get the dash.

Took me until a week and a half ago to get the approved drawing and pay for the order. I am guessing my order will ship the week of the 20th. Calling doesn't help much, he knew I needed the panel by last Friday.

I did all the modifications to my dash panels myself then sent them to Tecnografic to be dipped and top coated…. If you are not changing anything refurbish

Is that bondo?
Epoxy….. I think JB weld…… I had enough pieces of plastic to cut them and just glue them in place…. It worked really well …. That was a few years ago. I documented the process somewhere on here. Point was you can recoat existing if you don’t want major changes

Looks like it turned out well.

Good luck. I like them but as I said, be prepared to wait ... and wait and wait and wait and wait.... they aren't good at deadlines.

No there not, and they are not cheap either. Hopefully the wait will be worth it. But I suspect it will be.

it depends. If they can't stuff accomplished in the timeframe they promised, does it matter? I am looking for alternatives in the future.

I ordered 2 panels for my 510 this winter. Sam was very helpful and I received each in less than 2 weeks and I ended up making 2 separate orders. The first order was a custom panel for my new VHF and the 2nd a replacement panel behind the helm which was a standard size.

On my 460 I used FP many times and Ken was always great but I like the Technografic panels much better. Next winter I will replace the FP panel where the Axioms are with a TG. To make it easy, I will remove the electronics and send Sam the panel to match. The finished edges are much nicer on TG.

I also installed a new switches from New Wire marine:

There is always something to do on a boat. LOL

Just so everyone knows. Sam left TG and now you will be dealing with Connor. I also concur that the TG panels are much nicer then flounder pounder and I have experience with both.

TG panels should come with new backlighting, plug and play.

Swapped out my panels 2 seasons ago and the back lighting strip has failed twice since. I now just have a small piece of led lighting strip in the compartment behind the panel.

Finalized and paid for my TG panels two weeks to the day. The wait begins and continues

Hmm...I redid mine a couple years ago, still going strong.
