Did anybody else notice the newest Chevy truck ad with the big classic Sea Ray behind it? It looks like a mid 70's? The truck is a huge diesel dually and they show it going down the road with the canvas up. I could care less about the truck, but I'd like to see more of the boat! The ad is in my newest Trailer Boats magazine, front page.

I got a older One & one half ton to pull mine.
You can do it with less but the more truck you have the better the ride and handling and reserve power.

I saw it in one of my boating mags. Was a pleasant suprise!

sookeay ,are you talking about a truck?

I saw it on the back of a cycle mag at work - except the boat was launched and floating in the water. It caught my eye too!

I pulled my SRX225, 1981 (6500lbs empty weight plus 1000lbs for the trailer) with my 2005 Grand Cherokee 5.7 HEMI from Toronto to Florida - no problem. That truck handles the load excellent. Very smooth ride - lots of spare power and very good on gas. The whole trip - 1500 miles - cost me only $260 CDN on gas - down I75.

I just subscribed to the magazine. I really didn't recognize it as being a Sea Ray. That is a nice looking truck though.

Ad is cropping up everywhere now. I saw it in the NRA mag. Looks like a late 70's WE to me.

It was a truck ad? Didn't notice any truck...

that's right....get that stupid truck out of the way and show more of the boat.

Can anyone find a copy and post it? I happen to have a 1977 Weekender and she is truly a classic. I haul it with a chevy 1 ton dually and it tows like it's not even there, on the triple axle trailer it came with. When she's wet (tanks partly full) she's up around 16,000 pounds...what waves?? I picked it up about 4 years ago from a guy who maintained it maticulously, she is mint inside and out. I get compliments all the time about how nice it looks and nobody can believe it's from 1977. I'm not knocking the new stuff by any means but you can't beat the bullet proof hull and the loads of REAL wood all over it. I couldn't be more proud of being a classic Sea Ray owner!

the picture is in " Boating " in the July/Aug issue and it has 4 shots of the boat 2 of which are of the boat in tow one in the water just after the launch and 1 of the boat bein backed down the ramp and it is probably a 1977 model or so but looks to be a 260. The picture of it backing down the ramp you can clearly see the sea ray emblem. Im gonna try to load these pics and post them. LOL I have had this mag layin here for damn near a month wanting to see this ad and I just opened it up and its the first page of the magazine. Its taken at Lake Tahoe, Glenbrook NV

Theres a fold out ad in the new Boating Mag. It is definetly a 70's sea ray. maybe a 240DA? Doesn't look as big as my 77 260DA.

A positive ID would be great. It sure is a nice boat. Shame there pulling it with a chevy....

Anchors Aweigh - that is one nice boat. The WE has some of the nicest lines. We have a 240 but I think the 300 is the one to have.

Be happy to look at any more picturs you have...

Thanks for the comp KRB, I'll try and find a couple more good ones. Thanks for posting pics and link to the ad, yeah looks like about a 240. Vehicle and boat are about the same length, and the width is the same. The 300 is 11'6" wide, another thing Sea Ray stopped doing for that length. I'm not sure how long you have to go now for that beam, probably 40'?
...and just to let you know I've used 3 different american made 1 ton duallys to tow with. The GMC is smooth and comfortable and just rolls down the highway effortlessly. The Ford I used was a work truck w/flat deck on back, and standard shift. It did the job well but I was sore from the ride. The Dodge Ram was probably the best for power but had some electronic upgrades just for heavy towing. All 3 get about the same mileage.

KRB64 - do you have any pictures of your SRV240?

I do. What do you want to see?
There supposed to be an image in my sig but it never shows up...
