I just bought a new carb and it has an electric choke. The old carb had the divorced choke that sat on the intake.

I need a constant 12 volt source for the choke correct? Can I just go to the positive side of the coil?

Mark - I went through this as well when I put a 1409 on mine. The Edelbrock instructions actually said to not use the coil as a power source. I had a 12v ignition wire on the Mercathode box - it might cause a slight voltage drop but it's only at the start when the choke is actually engaged so I didn't worry about it. About 40 hours of running on the new carb with no problems. Another option is the slave solenoid - depending on where yours is mounted.

Ah, didn't even think about the Mercathode box...
