Tuggy has become a GREAT boating dog!:smt001

She is very "into" the whole scene. When docked or anchored, she watches my 8 and 5 yr olds like a hawk. When the kids were fishing on the sea wall, if they got too far away she let it be known. Also, she has become very accustomed to sleeping on the boat, which makes life easier.

I can't wait to finally bring my lab on the boat....

My dog is still getting use to the boat and is very nervous about moving around once we pick him up and put him on board. Monday he actually stepped from the dock to the swim platform, but when his hind legs hit the slippery platform, he went into the drink and had to be pulled out by the leash :smt089 I am sure that added to his 'confidence' He does however, enjoy sleeping on the forward berth once we get him settled down.

My boxer was the same at first. She too went into the river in much the same way. I had the luxury or putting her in the boat on the trailer several times for an hour or so while I cleaned last year, then on the boat in the slip for a few hours, then on the boat in the slip with the engine running, then engine running while I shifted in and out of gear. by the time we were underway, nothing was new, no strange sounds and she does fantastic now...

Is Tuggy a Jack Russell? I haven't taken my 4 year old Jack on our boat yet....I wouldn't think she'd like it. But I could be wrong...

I cannot go out on the dinghy without my dog. She just won't allow it. If she even sees me get near it, she jumps right in. Forget about me starting it up, she can hear the outboard a mile away and comes haulin' butt.

We got ourselves a new boating dog too. Now, we need a bigger boat since we expect him to reach 150+lbs. :smt100 At 4 months, he was 63lbs.

She is 1/2 Jack Russell and 1/2 Beagle as far as we can tell... She was on the boat as a brand new pup, and now that she is a year she really really likes it. She is certainly "involved" in boating, and not merely a passenger, but it's been great so far. You won't know until you try! Good Luck, they are a riot!

Here's Molly on the swim platform ... still waiting for drive service

Buffy is my sister’s one year old Golden Lab. She has really taken to the boat and the water. When we are out it is difficult to keep her on board, she just wants to swim and retrieve. For now we need the life vest to pull her out of the water. I bought one of those doggy swim ladders, just have not figured out how to use it!

One of my Golden Retrievers is like that... I literally get in arguments with the dog to keep her out of the water.... ridiculous.
