Hello everyone, great forums you have here.

I just picked up a 1975 SRV220 with Cuddy Cabin. This is my first boat and I look forward to learning alot in the coming months. I am new to boating in general and would appreciate any advice you all might have for me. One concern I've had is my ability to launch and load this boat. (Haven't yet, busy working since I got her.) I won't be attempting it solo any time soon, but I'm curious how deep of an access I'm going to need. I may be overly paranoid on that point as I am in a big fishing community and mainly see 16 to 20ft fishing boats in the area. There are over 1,000 lakes in my county alone, not to mention the other 9,000+ in the state, so I'm sure I'll find a few I can play on!

I'm sure I'll come up with plenty of questions and I'll be happy to answer any of yours.

EDIT: Oops, here's a question I forgot to ask. The boat has a dual battery setup with a selector where I can choose #'s 1, 2 or both. I assume I'll be setting that to 'both' for starting, but where should it be after I'm fired up? Or what circumstances might dictate that. Thanks!

EDIT #2: Forgot to mention that this came with a roller trailer, any extra advice for that?

Welcome aboard, glad to have you here. Usually Battery #1 is the starting Battery, Battery #2 is the house Battery, start and run on 1, use 2 for on the hook for the onboard lighting and other electrical stuff. At some point both batteries need charging, #1 is charged when you are running, you should switch to #2 and charge it also, many say do not put on both to charge, the reasons being that it is heavy load on the Alternator and if one battery is weak it will take all the charge and the other one will not get a good charge. You can start from either battery or both if necessary.

You will probably need a minimum of 4 feet of water to float the boat with deeper water nearby. I have run in 4 to 5 foot water and as long as I know the water it is fine but if I don't that makes me real nervous.
