Some start with a small boat and work they way up. I skipped a few steps and went straight to a 2004 Sundancer 320. It's sitting on blocks right now adjacent to the marina. It'll be a long winter as I wait for the spring launch. First priority is to learn how to use her. Lots of buttons and dials and electronics. Daunting!

Welcome aboard... exciting isn't it!

Congrats - I went through the exact same situation 2 years ago. I bought a 2004 340 Dancer. You did not say if you had a family. I do have a family 2 children along with the Admiral. Its was a steep learing curve, I can only suggest one thing. Go to the boat alone for the first few times and get to know her. Then when you invite people aboard you will feel a lot more comfortable.

That's great news. Very nice boat. I looked at the 320 but settled on a 280. I moved up very fast as well and in late fall too. I would highly recommend the Canadian Power squadron power course. I took it last winter and it was well worth the time and little bit of money. Made spring come a little bit faster.

I did the same thing last year. Lot to learn. Took the most work to learn to navigate this size boat but now getting fairly good at it.
Just keep modulating the throttles to steer in tight places and you will be OK (most of the time).

We are in St Catharines, Port Dalhousie Pier, what marina are yuo?
Don't forget Toronto Boat show starts Saturday!!!!!

Congratulations, great boat. This summer will be an outstanding one for all!

Don't worry, there's still plenty of room to move up...

That one's gonna cost me :smt021 but I couldn't resist.

Welcome aboard! We're based in Penetang on G Bay.

:thumbsup:Welcome aboard "A". Don't worry you'll do fine when you splash her, just make sure you have enough fenders OOOut! Couldn't resist!!!

Welcome Aboard. I am sure you will love her. We are just accross the lake from you in ...Wilson NY

Congrats! I'm on my 4th Sea Ray - unlike you I had to work up from a 24', but well worth the steps to get to my 400 Sedan Bridge :))
First Mate & I are heading to the Toronto International Boat Show tomorrow at the Ex grounds, as our vessel is on the hard way up north of you in Pefferlaw on Lake Simcoe & the boat show always marks the tipping point of the off season. Great spot to learn about boating in general, talk to the vendors (some actually know what they are talking about) and get into the groove for boating 2011. It's all down hill from here to to relaunch!
Now, let's see, where was that shopping list for the show? Oh ya- 12" chartplotter to replace the useless Ray Marine that cane with the boat, new Mercury RIB, davit system, a few of those funky LED rail lights I spotted up on Georgian Bay last summer . . .
Who says we are in a recession ;-)

Welcome!

We are heading to the show tomorrow. Like you updates and supplies are on the list. I hope you brought a truck for all your purchases!

I went twice and spent too much money. Ran out of hands to carry the stuff around. Thanks for the note.

Congrats on the your Sea Ray - that's the Queen Bee of Sea Rays. Boat show was a blast - my wallet is empty and there is snow on the ground. Where's the justice?

Hey - you'd be wise to stay on your side of the Lake while I am learning how to boat!

I'll be out and about all summer, eh.

Thanks - I suspect this won't be my last Sea Ray. The boat show was a real tease. Cruel, really.

Sorry man...I speak from experience. Each time I boat a boat, I thought...this is it. 27' - 32' - 37' - 44' - 58' Jackie J's I through V. Now this has gotta be it!!!

Boat show is always fun. I bought the 32' and the 35' at the Boat Show. Seemed like a lot of activity down there on the weekend. But the best part of the Toronto International Boat Show is that it marks the halfway point through the off season!

Again, welcome aboard. This site is a great resource for us Sea Ray boaters.
