New boat

It depends on water/wind conditions. For that boat, you'll be fine in the ocean if waves are 1 to 3's. Rough day.. but doable if you have 2 to 4's. Anything more than 2-4's, stay at the dock. Where are you located? Some of the inlets in NJ are treacherous and more dangerous than the ocean waters past the inlets. Our inlet, Great Egg Harbor, is one of the roughest on the east coast, according to yacht captains that bring boats back/forth from Florida.

Of course, the bottom line is that the boat will be fine in most rough water conditions typical of New Jersey- it's the people on board that will have the problems..

Thanks, I will be docking in Atlantic City and in nice weather looking to go up to the great bay or possibly down to Ocean City so no long trips. I am going to take the boat for a test ride next week if all goes well it will be our first boat.

Cant wait...

Ocean City is doable just listen closely to the Marine forcast. Not sure where you are in NJ but in my current boat (32 Sunsation) and good weather I can leave Ocean City inlet and be at Cap May in less than 40 minutes.

I had a 26' before Just Ducky. I ran that boat from Pt. Pleasant to Mystic and down to Ocean City, MD a few times. You can make fairly lengthy trips in a 26. Just watch the weather. I was in MD after Labor Day. The forecast was yucky and was supposed to stay that way for a few days. Not wanting to leave the boat there at the end of the season, I ran north in 7+ footers. It was icky and uncomfortable but at no time did I feel the situation was out of control. On the other hand, I was really happy to run the ICW, even with all the no wake zones. The no wake zones were only a little slower than my speed on the ocean.

Best regards,
Frank
