New boat

The problem is once he handed over the money and closed the deal he waived any sea trial requirement. There would need to be a specific escrow agreement in order to hold back any money for issues in the spring. Doesn't appear there was one. It's his boat now. Not much recourse.
Maybe against the marine surveyor though?

Yeah, but there was no sea trial. Everything that is showing up was found when he first ran the boat. Not sure how you can check gages, shifting, etc. when the boat is on the hard.

West Calgary. Wow, when you got to Florida did you look at the wife and say “Let’s just stay here”?
We used to go to Florida for vacations. Nice place but the work I did was not available in Florida. Huston and Louisiana were only warm place I ever worked in the south. Nice place Florida provided in was not storming.

You're probably right. Most surveys have disclaimer language all through them as well.

That is correct, nobody ran the boat until I picked it up and I had them start it they were not having any of it when I kept questioning about sea trial. They knew I was coming two weeks in advance and still made us wait 7 hours for them to load the trailer. Then I asked where everybody was the broker etc oh they all left for the day.

I quickly read through the threads and it sounds like the boat is your’s now and you are currently working on it. I am not sure you said how long the boat was in storage. If more than a few years, you should change the belts, hoses and hose clamps. I know it is a lot of work, but the parts are relatively inexpensive and by doing this you are making the unknown age, known, and reduce the chance of a silly breakdown ruining a weekend, for you and your family/friends. Obviously change all the fluids, and if batteries are more than 3 years old, probably a good idea to replace them too. I hope she turns out to be a great purchase, giving you and your family great memories!

That’s what I am doing already put three new batteries in it I have changed all the trim cylinder hoses installing new trim tab planes this weekend. I’m pulling my starboard drive Saturday morning as well as changing all the fluids belts etc. it will be better than new when I’m finished
