My blowers went out on my 06 340DA. It sounded like they ingested angry squirrels. Contacted the marina service dept and they were replaced under warranty. However I noticed that the new ones kept tripping the DC breakers. In speaking with the Tech they informed me that the old blowers would operate under the 7amp limit of the breakers but the new ones had a max of 7.5amps and therefore they upped the breakers to 10amp. Is this normal? I thought in order to do that you had to up the size of the wire as well like in household circuits. Thoughts?

As long as the wire gauge is sufficient to handle the increased power draw, it's okay. What gauge wiring? Also, two other things you should know the length of the wiring run and the voltage drop at the blowers, just to be sure.

Chances are your wire is an 18. An 18 gauge wire should be able to carry 8 amps up to 20 feet before the wire needs to be upgraded to a 16 gauge.

can't help you with the wiring and amp question but I would like to know how you got 10 yr. old blowers replaced under warranty..........

Interesting... Aren't those breakers in the EIM? I didn't realize they were replaceable.

I had the same issue when I tried installed squirrel cage blowers to try to quite them down, they were too many amps so breaker kept popping. I checked my wire and it was too small for the amerpage so I am back to loud blowers.

Aftermarket warranty when I bought the boat last year.
