Picked up my new bilge heater today:smt038. Again I queried the low price of $137.00 when all the others in North America are $500.00 plus . I was reassured that it was in fact a bilge heater and not to worry about it. I threw it in the back of my service truck and finished my jobs. Back at the shop I took the heater out of the box and immediately noticed the exposed elements and no mention of CSA or AYBC approval on the box.:smt017 Back on the phone to the dealer I was AGAIN assured that it was in fact an explosion proof, certified, bilge and engine room heater, go and install it in your boat, thank you and goodbye. :smt009. Now I'm at home with the instruction sheet and the "read this before using" and "caution" pages are telling me, For indoor use only, NOT to be used in enclosed areas where there are chances of explosive fumes, use in well ventilated areas only.:wow: And there's even a picture of a boat on the box. And now the dealer is closed:smt089. Even the pros make mistakes. Now I'll have to order it from WM and cough up the full price like I should have done in the first place instead of being such a cheap stingy s.o.b. Does anybody have a used one they wanna sell?
