I personally love the look of this boat.... any thoughts?

Mike

Absolutely, without a doubt - she's a beauty!!! I helped one as it was docking at the public dock in Dering Harbor, Shelter Island this summer...and wow, breathtaking - great presence as she came in from the Bay, and upfront and close it was massive looking.

Great boat

Are you referring to the 2015 model or current? SR is launching a new 470 for 2015 with a fully enclosed cockpit/salon.

It is s great boat. Can't wait to see the new one.

I saw the 2015 47da today at Norwalk show. The new floor plan was ok however they keep going to form over function. For example they eliminated the Lazzarette!! No where to store a line or fender. Go check it out.

I must say I hate having to deal with my aft canvas and having sliding glass doors would be huge, but I don't like the lines of this new 470 versus mine. Too boxy from side view and I do like having a wide open stern in nice weather. If and when I go to a sliding door cruiser it will be a 48' Sabre!

James, I hear you on the canvas, it is a pain. But I still prefer the open cockpit such as yours for the type of boating we do. It seems that most manufacturers are going the coupe design but I can't wrap my self around piloting in a salon.

+1 I'm with you!

Is the express cruiser definitely dead???

I love the idea of the mid-cabin master but not crazy about getting the dinky shower vs the huge one forward. Overall I think I prefer the open feeling of the current designs vs the cut-off feeling of the newer ones. Especially in this size of boat.

I love the concept of having glass for ease of closing up the boat. However, I just haven't seen a single boat (Sea Ray or otherwise) that is cable of incorporating that open air feeling you get when taking off the back canvas. Personally, I love having a wide open view out the back (especially while under way). Looking from the helm out the back with glass doors feels like looking down a hallway to me.

I still love the lines of the 2009-2014 SR470, but I'll check out the new one at Fort Lauderdale before I judge. I think the lack of visibility, quick access to fender storage and aft sun pad will be sorely missed by some.

48' Sabre Salon Express....now that's a nice piece of equipment!
