I am kind of astonished! Though I cannot say this new 450DA is not a beauty, it's hard to me to understand its lay out. The only reason why I would change my 390 EC is for a second head just for my guests...but a 45 foot boat without a guest head is beyond my comprehension!
Moreover I would like to know what do you think about the split head/shower arrangement...I mean: where do you go or what do you do once you have finished your shower... do you dry up in the shower stall before going out??? (I'd like to have you sharing your experience)
And what about in this new 450 where your kids or guest will be flowing through your cabin??:huh::huh:

I just read in BoatTest.com that their test 2010 450 Dancer came with the Axius Drive. What happened to Zeus?

I read that too.Looks like both choices

Specifications

The Sea Ray 450 Sundancer has a LOA of 45’5" (13.85 m), a beam of 13'2" (4.01 m), and a draft of 46” (117 cm) with Zeus pods, and 38” (97 cm) with Bravo III drives controlled by Axius. Her dry weight (Inboards) is 24,362 lbs (11,050 kg) or (Zeus) 27,205 lbs (12,340 kg). Fuel capacity is 292 gallons (1,106 L), and water capacity is 70 gallons (265 L).

This is just scratching the surface of the long list of features, both standard and optional, on the 450 Sundancer. You can check it out further by visiting Sea Ray at www.searay.com.

As far as power goes, if you want gas engines you can only get the Axius setup. Zeus is available with diesel power. Straight inboards (or V-Drives) are DOA on this model since the hull is not designed for them. Of bigger concern is why you can't get Zeus with gas motors.

I think there was a thread on this awhile back...
For me, I don't care for it either. But one can only assume the marketing peeps at SR know what they're doing. It's basically a big day boat, that's big on entertaining and short on cruising amenities. Even without a second stateroom- rare in a 45 footer- I agree that a single head layout makes NO sense. And as you said, everone aboard has to enter the Master SR to use the head- or the shower. Ridiculous.

I'd prefer a single space for the head/shower stall instead of the split arrangement, and they could build mine with a full-beam master stateroom with private head where the seating area is now under the helm, with a smaller guest stateroom forward.

This layout is good for a couple that cruises only or a dayboat for a family of 4. We have the 2nd head, Love it, and 2nd stateroom is needed for our kids on overnight. I believe the head has an entrance from the salon and stateroom, so no need to enter the stateroom to access the head.

I think the "media" center in the aft is a good concept but will limit the buyers. They should offer this boat with a 2nd stateroom as an option in leiu of the media room.

I would not want to buy a new 45ft boat (that not going to be cheap) with only one head - and one that is way forward in the cabin. I love that our day head is "down the stairs and to the right". It keeps guest and dripping swimmers our of the master head and most of the cabin. Must say though that the 45's cockpit looks real nice with the what i assume is a grill, sink and fridge to starboard and the big sunpad aft. I agree with Rocket - they should have 2 layout options.

If you want a second head and stateroom you need to go to the previous (43) dancer.....Not sure if it is called a 47 or 48 dancer now.........The 45 is a great boat for a cruising couple only.....Is there a market for that, limited.....I would think the brainiacs at Searay went to marketing 102 before passing marketing 101....Too much of a niche boat......Niches are not good in this market.....KISS...Keep it simple stupid!!!!!

Yes, but it seems that they will to enter the shower :smt013

Ok im confused..Is the 45 the old 43... if so then WTF is the 47 i was on in FL they said that was the old 43 ? They soo need to get there acts together..

As for pricing the 43/45/47 is more then the 48.... So again WTF....

Merry Christmas guys ...

Anybody been on one of these new 450's yet? Im diggin it. We are day boaters and this boat looks to fit our niche very well. I love the entertainment area down below. And the sperate shower isnt a big deal for day boaters....your showering in your house or condo after the day on the water. I think the Tiara 3900 Sovran is about identical to this searay except the head is aft and has a shower built in.

I'm 51' loa so if this was new production this year I'd have a 510 ???

This new 450 is just a glorified 390/400.........

If that's a TNT lift on the back of your boat, you're longer than 51', more like 53'. There, I just upgraded your boat.

LOA is LOL

the 48Da is now the 500Da the 60Da is now the 61Da.....

The new 45Da aka old 43Da aka old old 43DA is cramped and with the Zeus drives brings the price above the 48Da which is a far bigger and better boat. (ok I'm biased).

Anyway the spilt head/shower works for a single unit boat..if a couple travels, once your wive's shower, they can go into the head to finish their hair, makeup...whatever. and you can shower. Cuts the time it takes two, to get ready for a night out...

Same works for the 2 head 48DA, the aft head has seperate vanity, affording your guests to get ready in the same time frame..

ps:Robski97..Rob GET THE 48DA and ease your pain! LOL

Don't get hung up on the 450DA model. My 410DA is 1 inch longer LOA and has 8 more inches of beam but it's always considered a 41 footer....(unless you dock in Atlantic City, then it's a 38 with 41 LOA).

Also, back in years of the 410 run it came in two flavors....the 410DA with 2 staterooms and 2 heads and V-drives or the 410EC with a (somewhat quirky) dual stateroom and single head with straight drives.

When I bought the 410DA, I prefered the 2 by 2 configuration because my daughter was younger and traveled more with us. However, now that we more or less are empty nest boaters, I would prefer the 410EC because of the extra ER room. Although I will admit that the second head does come in handy.

As to a split head layout, IMHO, it doesn't make sense. When I shower on the boat, I prefer to get naked, brush my teeth, shave, use the toilet, shower and dry off and then get dressed all in one room. I don't want to have to walk back and forth accross the hall way dripping wet and naked.....especially if I have guests with us.

I think searay is calling their new boat name formulation "truth in advertising" or something like that. On the plus side I now own a 280 sundancer  J/K. IMO they have no business adding in non-integral swimplatforms to LOA.

I would like to see the convertabel entertainment area an option on many of the larger sundancers. Damn near everybody I know with a large sundancer uses it 90% of the time for a day boat. More open entertainment space in the inside is a good thing.

The 450 is just the 380 which became the 40 which now is the 450. All these models were single head and no aft cabin. The 420 to 44 to 43 to 470 is the entry two head with second cabin. The mistake, I think Sea Ray made, for those of us who wanted a 40 (or 380) and would appreciate the larger salon in the new model because of room created by Zeus or Axius, was pricing it with Zeus (who wants to push the weight with gas) at over $900K. Check the 40 price, this is up $300K for the same size boat. That's the rub, who can pay an extra $300K for a 40' hull ( don't wnat to pay a lot of $$ for bigger swim platform) and 13' 2" beam. Regal, Cruisers, even Four Winns are considerably less, even if you can get 30% off list from Sea Ray. I would buy this in a minute if it was in line with the 2009 40DA, never with current price.

I agree with someone who said the 290/310/330 was not the deal, not trying to make anyone mad. But the 290 has no place for the "copilot" to sit on a long trip on the water. I would say that the 310 was OK to take over from the 300.. but the 330 I do not like as well as the old 320. We have been waiting to trade up but my dealer wants $225 for a 330 (old 310) you can buy a very nice used boat for that kind of money
