New 420 Sundancer Owner

Hello all, new here.

We decided to start a new chapter in our 40+ years of boating and joined the cruiser family. Specifically a 2005 420 Sundancer. We just sold a 28ft twin 300hp center console, so this is a big change and I'm certain lots of questions and needed help to follow.

My first question is on the layout, does anyone know if the 2002 and 2005 420's have the same swim platform and cockpit area? I ask because I'm going to add some decking and the company has a 2002 template ready to send for verification, but wondering if it will be too far off or very close to the same layout.

No, there are some subtle differences between the 2003 and 04-05 models. I know that. If you really want it done right, make your own template. Use the heaviest plastic you can fine, cut it out, dry fit it, and send it in. Mine could not have come out better. Took a little time, but it is perfect.

Any chance I can see some pics of your boat. They do send the template and we have to write on it where the differences are and then they redo it for a final fitting. Thanks for responding.

I really do not have any good ones, but will try to get some this weekend. I am 7-weeks into rotator cuff surgery.

Google “Snapincarpet.com.” I believe they have templates fir the 2003 and then 2004+. There you can see the differences.
