My apologies if this has been posted before... I did a search and did not find anything.

The new "not for US" 305 hardtop launched today. I searched everywhere for pix, and finally found some at the following link:

Just click view image gallery.

I gotta say this is my favorite Sea Ray sport cruiser yet. I sort of feel cheated that this model is not available in the US, especially since it originates here in the states. Yeah, I currently live in a hot climate, but hey I still like glassed in hardtops. The size is just right too. Not too small, and yet not a huge yacht either.

I can't tell what model the 305 is based on, as it doesn't match the spec of any US cruiser. The swim platform looks bolted on also, rather than built into the hullform.

Hopefully, Sea Ray will bring this gem here soon, though I realize that is wishful thinking.

That would be a perfect NW boat with all the weather.

That definitely looks like a boat for a cool climate. I bet that is why it is not offered here. These "new" style boats with glassed-in cockpits really get hot when the sun is out. The 48 dancer I was on last week was unbearable even with the a/c running. Even if the air conditioning would cool the cockpit who wants to run their generator all the time to power the air cond.

How do you keep the boat running in freezing temp? Factory bilge heater? Please excuse my ignorance Im a new owner.

Here are two more pics... I didn't include a pic before, because I wasn't sure the policy on posting pics from other sites on this site.

I love everything about this boat. I assume a US version would have stronger powerplant options.

Did you guys go to the end of the photos? Apparently, it also comes in a standard, open front design too.

Notice how it comes with some sort of camper enclosure in Europe? They need more lawyers over there to help the people decide what options they want.

I would also like to see this style of boat in a 40 - 44' range without the extra 50% on the price tag (43).

Nice lines, thanks but no thanks for a hardtop in Fl as already mentioned.
Interior layout sucks. No separate dinette area- convertible V-berth- should be a dedicated berth in a boat this size.

100 gallons of fuel for a twin-engine 30 footer? That's beyond inadequate, it's ridiculous.

Is this a question related to this boat... or are you jumping into this thread with a question that doesn't really make much sense and has nothing to do with the topic?

What is it exactly that you're asking?

The photos show this particular model is operating in freezing temperatures, judging by the ice and snow. How are they able to operate the boat in the winter?

D - on the antenna position.

Any thoughts on this style of bow rail? It looks like the type used for boarding from a beach. It looks like Bayliner's Avanti.

After comparing to the older 280, I think that this 305 is based upon it. It looks like they changed the upper part of hull, but kept the same lower. That would explain the small twin motors, small fuel tank, low weight, and their decision not to offer in the US. They still can't kill the 280's popularity.

I like it. Twin 260's were probably overkill for the 280DA, which is around the same weight as this model (8630lbs) I noticed it doesn't appear to have an aft cabin. This 305 is actually 33"6" so the "new" SeaRay numbering system hasn't caught on overseas yet.

Hardtops are great in sunny warm weather and cold rainy weather. Most people want to avoid sun after a certain age because of skin cancer concerns. Maybe the 48 did not have the correct sized a/c. Our cockpit is very comfortable in hot and cold weather. On a 38 foot boat, It takes 38,000 btus in the cockpit and 18,000 running down below to maintain 70 degrees on hot muggy days.

I'm not sure that's true. My 340 is called a 375 internationally. Most people on the thread about the new numbering system seem to think that they are beginning to mimmick their own international number system stateside. You know, the "Royal."

Vincent Vega: [Y]ou know what the funniest thing about Europe is?
Jules Winnfield: What?
Vincent Vega: It's the little differences. I mean they got the same sh** over there that they got here, but it's just, just there it's a little different.
Jules Winnfield: Example.
Vincent Vega: Alright, well you can walk into a movie theater and buy a beer. And, I don't mean just like a paper cup, I'm talking about a glass of beer. And, in Paris, you can buy a beer in McDonald's. You know what they call a Quarter Pounder with Cheese in Paris?
Jules Winnfield: They don't call it a Quarter Pounder with Cheese?
Vincent Vega: No, man, they got the metric system, they don't know what the fu** a Quarter Pounder is.
Jules Winnfield: What do they call it?
Vincent Vega: They call it a Royal with Cheese.
Jules Winnfield: Royal with Cheese.
Vincent Vega: That's right.
Jules Winnfield: What do they call a Big Mac?
Vincent Vega: Big Mac's a Big Mac, but they call it Le Big Mac.
Jules Winnfield: Le Big Mac. What do they call a Whopper?
Vincent Vega: I don't know. I didn't go into Burger King.
CSR's Hampton: It's a Whopper, but they didn't have BK when you were there. It just opened. Follow this link: http://www.zimbio.com/pictures/V5-gQPNLdxE/Burger+King+Opens+First+European+WHOPPER+Bar/wIMd8zhAfaN
