New 185 Sport/ Silverado able to tow?

Hi everyone,

New the the forums, and to boating. On Friday, I will officially be an owner of a 2009 185 Sport 4.3 V6. I was curious to know if my 2005 Chevrolet Silverado V8 5.3 liter Crew Cab 2WD would be able to handle the boat. I hope it is, since its a pretty large truck with a decent engine. Thanks for the help in advance!

It should pull fine, I pull my 2004 185 with a 94 GMC Seirra 5.7L, your 5.3L is supposed to have more power than my 5.7, the only place you may have a problem is on a steep slick ramp with 2WD.

you won't have a problem at all. i pull my 200BR with an envoy just fine.

You will hardly know it's back there! I pull our 200BR with a GMC Sierra 1500, with the 5.3L, and it tows like a dream. I do have the tow package, though. You should be fine.

You guys are spoilt for choice. I towed my 180CB with a 1.8 ltr Rover 75. It struggled, more because of the front wheel drive than the power but it did it (and legally). The 200 OV was more of a problem. There are only two rear wheel drive saloon cars I could find on the market in this country that could tow 2 tons, 7 Series BMW.....horendous reliability issues and very costly to maintain and Jaguar XJ8........"total bomb-proof reliability", cheap as chips to buy (second hand), very easy and cheap to maintain. EG. major 100,000 mile service £170 inc parts and 2 galls fully sysnthetic oil...........No contest!!
