NEVER ENOUGH Restoration

awesome work. she looks sweet as candy. I especially like the console. did you gel coat right over the maroon color console? isn't it vinyl? i have a 88 268 Sundancer with the maroon console and it gets hot enough to fry bacon.

OK, That makes sense. Thanks

LK

I had the same question.

So are the throttles paired and transmissions paired or is it throttle/trans and throttle/trans?

Lots of nice work by the way!

Wow, that is some serious resto work. Looking good, however, have to agree that the blue above the rub rail is not quite right. I believe that I would possibly employ an artist to get some suggestions. Maybe several renderings to look at and decide. Possibly using several shades of blue and some blending to carry the blue to the white. Or possibly some white artwork within the blue. You are obviously spending some major bucks, so, why not go with a few more and get some professional art input? Just my $.02.

In regard to the top, are you going to stay with the convertible or change it over to a bimini like I have pasted in below?

Before I pile on I want to say 'Great Job'. You've done a spectacular job on that boat.

Now, I agree with everyone else that the blue transition above the rub rail just doesn't look right. I think a better solution would be to end the blue hull below the rubrail just before the transom perhaps using a similar look to the attached picture. Keep above the rubrail all white with the existing stripes. Now you'll have a comfortable all white transom to lean on.

Just a thought. Good luck.

I am taking you at your word that you wanted our thougts.

I like that idea of ending the blue before the transom. Looking at that, I have another thought which would be to bring in a third color like maybe a gray. For example, when the blue ends, you pick up a transistion to the white with some gray vertical stripes that get thinner as they progress rearward. Again, you might want to consider throwing some ideas at a designer and see what kind of renderings they can come up with. Since the housing market downturn, there a lot of really talented designers out there looking to pick up some work.

Also, Pietro suggested that you review his restoration work. He has done an outstanding job of using various materials and fabrics to come up with a really exceptional end product. My wife, who is an interior design fanatic attends all of the design shows, seminars, etc. and has all of the books put together by the top notch designers like John Saladino. She really likes the work that Pietro did and she is one tough cookie to please. If you want to do your interior so that it is a knock out, find a good designer that has tastes suitable to yours and hire them on an hourly consulting basis. They are out there and they are hungry. Further they can get materials that are only available to the trade. I know that because with my wife being in the trade, comes up with some really fabulous stuff that cannot be purchased outside of the trade. Again, just my $.02 worth of blah blah. I guess that I get kind of excited when I see someone doing extensive resto work like you are doing. Good Luck!

I feel flattered, Jerry!!! :smt001
BTW, I agree with Jerry and copb8tx, that could be a solution for having a one colour transom.

No I had it stripped, then gel coated. The whole boat was stripped of the old gel coat first, with the exception of a few places.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will check out Pietros' restoration. Here is a link to one Idea I will go with. http://s214.photobucket.com/albums/cc210/jrirvine/Boat Flooring/?albumview=slideshow

I have decided on the Bimini to raise the top height and extend it to the transom with clear sides. I have a couple of quotes on upholstery but am taking ideas. I figured I would change the carpet to a light or medium grey and the seats white with Gemini Electric Blur trim.

New pictures soon. The drive train rebuild is 99 percent finished with only some minor adjustments. I left the country for work and did not get a chance to take new pictures, but will in about ten days or so. I also updated all of the lighting on the boat with modern light. The 8.5kw Westerbeke works like a charm, its nice to finally have a genset on a boat like this. I ordered a new set of custom Livorsi gauges today ( Blue face with white graphics. silver needles, red LED back lit and polished stainless ring) and will order new dash panels tomorrow in the carbon fiber look with LED back light. I had power steering added to the build and now the boat steers with one finger, wow what a big change from before. Has any one re-engineered the cabin door for the this circa boat? If so please send me links and pictures, as you know the roll top and folding door design lets in water when washing the boat and AC out of its huge gaps.
