thx. very neat!

Cool that they were able to get a cam up there.

The wife caught a couple of shots of an eagle in our back yard last weekend. Our back yard is a small fresh water lake.

Great Post

They have an infrared or some type of night vision camera on at night. It looks like they are shining a light on the nest but they aren't. I think the hatch will be sometime early April. At 7:30 tonight, you could see one of them (female) was on the nest, I'll bet the other wasn't too far away...One of the site's moderator advised they leave the nest for short periods to hunt and let the eggs cool slightly. This slows the incubation process to try to get both eggs to hatch as close together as possible. They know by instinct when to return before they get too cool.

The Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge on Maryland's Eastern Shore has an eagle cam:

and an Osprey cam:

All three of the eagle eggs have hatched. Pretty neat stuff.

Speaking of... I took these photos three years ago tomorrow (3/1/2008) from just inside my living room when I saw a large bald eagle land in the tree near the top of the photo. See him?

So I took a bunch more of both, zoomed in. Didn't even realize it until I downloaded the files to my computer that he had just plucked a fish from the river! Here's the best shot I took:

Talk about cool...and lucky. :smt001

Tom - love the pictures you have, that is quite a death grip on that fish! I noticed on your eagle cam link there is a dead fish in the nest. Cool stuff indeed.

Cool photos....thank you guys...they are fairly abundant here also...but every time I see one I have to pause....and fix on it for a moment...I have seen them "catch" fish within 100 yards...their size and overall presence with those wings fully extended..is stunning...

I hear ya, even though we see them quite often, it's always a big deal to call them out and stare and watch.
