Over the last 2 years I've talked to or corresponded via Email with 3 or 4 shops about my rear bench seat. Everyone says they want to do it but for one reason or another, I've had no luck getting it done. I can't move up without this being taken care of.

I do not want a Guy "who's cousin used to do car seats in his mom's garage." I just saw one of those jobs on a boat at my marina....made my stomach turn.

So I'm expanding my search.... Knoxville / Atlanta / Memphis and all points in between. Any and all recommendations would be appreciated.

In the Atlanta area, I have heard a lot of good things about these people. I have seen some of their work and it looked like it came from the factory. However, I have never dealt with them.

Thank you Sir.
Website says all requests answered within 24 hours.......E-mail sent.
I may have talked to them a few years ago at the Atlanta boat show & they may have told me they do the whole boat or nothing. We'll see.
Thanks again.

I know I'm a little out of the way South Alabama, but I just had a shop here fabricate a back bench seat for me, they did an awesome job considering I didn't have any pictures to work from (I didn't have a seat at all) they did a great job and it was only $300. if you would like pictures I'm happy to send them to you. And contact info... it did take them a while 2 weeks because they are really bust shop...

There's a guy close to our lake house that has his own shop in his backyard (Acworth, GA) and is in the process of repairing/restitching the aft sunpad and a couple of bolsters on our runabout. He has done some small stuff for us in the past (auto seats) and a friend took one of his boat cushions there for repair. If this turns out ok, will let you know. Are you looking to just pull the seat for repair or take the whole boat in?

Michael,

How about a weekend at the beach? If you can't find anyone else, we have a great local canvas shop that is very professional, has 8 full time employees, does work for the Navy. He has done all my canvas and upholstery work for about 25 years. The owner is a friend of mine, so if we aren't in town, I can set up a meeting by phone......if we are in town, you guys get a day of boating in paradise after we leave the canvas shop.

I would be interested in what you hear from them.

Thanks,
Bennett

Well, yet another bust. No return Email, no return phone call. I'm sure they are busy this time of year, but as posted earlier, I've contacted 3 or 4 shops now & nobody wants the business. (the economy being so bad and all).

So, It looks like Frank's gracious & solid offer is the direction I will go. It may be a long way to go for a seat job, but I'll bet I won't be disappointed!
Lesson #412.... Save time, ask Frank.

Frank... I'll send you a pm before the weekend is up.

Call your local boat dealers and ask them who they use

This is basically not an option. Some of the work I've seen is criminal.

The upholsterer recommended by my marina can not take on any more work. He is a part timer that has been too busy for the last 36 months.

As for our local Sea Ray "Dealer"... I had to beg them to order me some parts. On another occasion, they simply refused to even look at the boat unless I dropped it off (kind of hard to do with a blown out coupler), let it sit at the dock, out in the weather, for 2-3 weeks until they could get to it. I seriously doubt they are interested in helping people with recommendations that yield them $0.

Frank just offered a trip to Florida, a canvas place that does all of his work and a boat ride ??.... I am thinking of poking a hole in one of my cushions right now

All I need to hear....when the time comes, I will not waste my time. At least they could have responded that they could not get to you. Cannot stand people like that!

Thanks,

Canvas and upholstery in Panama city is:

The Recovery Room......owner's name is Chip Lueck, but Christina will probably answer the phone. They shop is just off of Thomas Drive, between hiway 98 and Grand Lagoon.

Chip has done all of my work for 25 years. He isn't the cheapest, but he is the best.
