I too have heard nothing but good about Michigan Motorz. No personal experience though.

IMHO...... IF you need to repower, I would get rid of all the electronics that deal with fuel delivery and go back to an old base 454 w/ Holly Carbs. Get as much as possible accessible to the average human, eg, no Merc RWC pump. I don't "THINK" carbs require fuel coolers.

I don't like rebuilt because, of the variables possible with the tech doing the work.
A factory new long block engine lessens the problems.

When replacing a long block is it customary to change the ECM as well ? Otherwise the hours from the old motor will be on the new one?

I have always agreed with that. If you have to do a rebilt twice that what will it cost??
