:huh:I have not been able to get my 85 Seville on the lake for 3 years. I have been starting it in the driveway several times each year. However the gas has gone bad and will not start the engine. I have cleaned out the carb etc. But I need to drain out the 20 plus gallons in the tank. When I try to place a siphon hose in the fill tube it only goes down to the tank. Is there a screen there? I can't siphon out of the line going to the fuel pump due to the anti-siphon valve at the tank. If any one has had this problem and have found a solution please let me know.

I don't believe there is any type of screen (although I'm not 100% positive), it may just be getting hung up on the nipple or a bend.

You can remove a fitting (there's likely an unused one)on the tank that is easiest to get to. Sometimes the sending unit is easy to get to through a floor access panel.

I have found that the manual Moller 4 liter fluid extraction pump works great all be it 4 liters at a time. Connect it to the fuel line at a convenient spot.
They make a anti siphon plastic insert that goes into you fuel fill hose could there be one of these installed?

Thanks for the info. I guess leaving my siphon hose in the hot sun for several hours made is soft enough to get through the filler hose. All of a sudden it went all the way into the tank. I was able to siphon it all out without any problems.

Good - glad you got it. Must have just been getting hung up.

Make sure there's no water in it - then you can pump a few gallons at a time into your car.

You may want to put about 3 - 5 gallons more into the tank, then pump it out again - sort of like "washing" it out.
