I am doing a complete re-fit of my 1983 360ac, its time to upgrade the stereo system now; but unfortunately need to pay attention to the budget (if only I was born rich instead of good looking.... actually neither.... sigh..... )

Here is my wish list:
  1. Bluetooth audio
  2. Multiple zones with remotely controlled volume and content
  3. Ability to patch TV to stereo for theater sound

What else?

I read a lot of good things about the Fusion systems - are they worth the premium?

Does the iphone/ipad Fusion app work well? Which units does it connect too?

I'd like to do the system (minus speakers) under $400, am I kidding myself?

I really respect the knowledge here, I look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Thanks!!!
Tim

The Fusion 700 series is bluetooth compatible (dongle sold sep) has 4 zones avail and you can name them. The ms700i has composite video out so you can connect to a tv/monitor and play video from your iPod,iPhone docked in the head unit.
The av700 I'd for dvd so same is true. To use the app, you need to install a router (inexpensive from eBay) I powered the router to the head power so it turned on when the unit powered up. I wouldn't buy any other unit right now unless someone beats Fusion!

Joe, you bought the AV700? Why? Im trying to decide myself and trying to figure out the differences between the av650, 700 and the new 750.

I ordered the av700i. Should be here tomorrow - I feel like an 8 year old on Christmas Eve

Can't wait to get it hooked up and see how it sounds with a cocktail in my hand!

Tmc, that's the way to audition a system!!! Hope you love, I think you will.

Sorry Russ I didn't see your post. I bought the ms700 not the AV700 av is a DVD player and I don't need that (who has DVDs anyway?) the MS you dock an "I" device inside the head unit. The new 750 series will accept the larger phones as the 700 series only acepts up to iphone 5. Plus the 750 has HDMI video 700 is RCA
with the 700 series if you have a large phone you would need to add a unidock. My opinion is get the bluetooth dongle and save a few bucks. You just can't stream video over bluetooth but again I have no need for that. Hope this helps

Correction: it acepts more than "I" devices. It comes with a few cables for different connections.

Just curious but why would you spend the big bucks on a Fusion head unit and then use a dongle for Bluetooth? Seems counter productive to me.

For me, the main reason for the Fusion head is to be able to control things with my iPad. I installed my IP700 a couple of years ago when the Fusion-link app was $30....now it's free. I didn't want to have wired remotes all over the place so this worked great. Just a few weeks ago I installed the app on mine and my wife's android phones and we now have remotes all over the place.

The Fusion head has a large bundle of well-marked cables on the rear with one for a Cat5 cable to a wireless router. You need a 110 volt source to the router but when all connected the IP700 and the router create a network. When I get on the boat my devices recognize and automatically connect to the network and activate my remotes.

The app allows you to control volume in each of 4 zone, adjust EQ/tone, access your playlists and most of the other functions. For larger boats this is a must have. I don't think you will be disappointed.

I still don't understand all the "zone" need....anything under 50' or so i'd think you'd have bleed over using multiple zones (cabin-cockpit-stateroom)...these boats aren't exactly soundproof from one area to another....I guess you could be watching a movie in the cabin/stateroom and listening to music in the cockpit or forward deck. Nice unit tho....just don't see a need for multiple zones on my 340....just another observation.

Kids below watching a movie, and adults above enjoying cocktails.

My 36db had 4 zones , bridge, cockpit ,salon,v berth worked great. My buddies 320 we installed a fusion /JL set up 2 zones, cockpit, cabin, it's really just a fader but you can adjust each zones volume and sub levels.
Also. You do not need 110v for the router I bought a cheap router off eBay, cut the plug off and wired it directly to the power on for the head unit most are 9vdc to 13vdc something like that. the one thing I don't get yet is why the bluetooth is seperate? (Do over) it plugs into the sirius xm port if your not using sirius. Why can't it be built in? I love the Fusion stuff great quality and I love the gadgetry with them.
