I am the owner of a company that works hand in hand with a high end vacation home resort. Last week we have started having multiple Flat tvs taken from these properties. So far its been almost ten TV's. That may sound like a lot, but we had over 40 go missing the last year. With the economy in the hole, I believe we are looking at a growing problem. I dont want to stop them from taking them, I want their balls in a sling. I want proof of who is responsible. Local police are clueless, and almost useless. (Not to be rude)

These properties are located within 6 miles on an island. Over 275 in all. Most of them with 10 or more TV's. I was thnking of purchasing motion cameras used for wildlife scouting. Catching a few camera shots of people and or vehicles would be enough. The problem is, 275 X $100.00 is going to add up quick... Any ideas to help catch them after the fact???? or red handed would be nice.... Thanks all!!!

Look into gps tracking technology and embed a few with tracking devices?

First I would have to pick which house they might go for, then pick which of the multiple TVs in that house. Odds are against me.... I was thinking the camera outside near the drives/garage areas. Covers the whole house then....

Not knowing your situation, it is tough to come up with a solution. Maybe a professional security firm could advise you. If you have property in a concentrated area with a common entrance and egress, high resolution cameras allow you to get digital pix on a hard drive of license plates. These could be cross checked with registered guests who had reasons to be on the property. Check the comings and goings right after the next loss to see who was on the property.

PM me or clear your messages, I left one for you.
I have a suggestion that I have used in the past that might work.

If you want to catch them gps is the way to go. I think it is small enough to fit in the TV. Google it, I know there is a wide variety of systems.
It is probably a few individuals and once they are caught, I am sure word will spread that you are tracking......then it will stop.
Or you can try making official looking stickers to put on the windows advising that the contents have tracking systems attached.....90% of the deterrent in an alarm system is the warning stickers.
You may also want to work on legislation that will bring back public hangings, in my eyes this is preferable

There is another way. This is especially easy and cheap if the property already has an alarm system. Security wire the set into one of the alarm loops. When the wire's cut or shorted, the alarm system phones home.

Best regards,
Frank
