Hoping to get some insight from people that own or have owned these boats 90-91 280, 92-94 300 sundancer, i personally have experence with the 89 and down style boats however my dad is currently looking at a 92 300 sundancer and i would like to find out if there are any major issues with these boats, or if the things i am worried about are normal issues for this boat... so here is the boat info please any info you can share would be greatly apreciated.....

1992 300 Sundancer, twin 175hp 4.3 according to the owner (and this is a big if he also swears it is a 89 and was confused when i asked for the second key to start the boat, didn't know why you would need two keys to start a boat with twins) it has been in a covered boat well on a lift from the time it was two years old untill three years ago when it was moved to a standard well and left in the water, all work was done professianally and he does have some records of the maintence, the glass looks pretty good but hasn't been waxed in years, it has the factory camper tops and morning cover but most of its life the campers were always left up so they are basicly scrap so they have since started using the morning cover but didnt' know you needed to use the support poles durning rain and storms so that is in bad need of repair also, durring storage a racoon got inside the boat (twice they repaired it the first time not the second) and caused damage to alot of the forward v-birth, a large hole in the middle of the sundancer seat, and ate the complete cover to the electric system located just starboard of the sundancer seat. Both motors start and run but one idles alot higher than the other (1100 compaired to 750) one other major concern is the forward bildge (just outside the head) is completly full of water as is the shower sump box the sump pump has a auto switch that is up but the pump isnt running, this could be because they replaced the batteries but only did two and left the house battery out does this run that pump maybe, and why would the bildge around the shower box have water in it? The guy is asking 18,500 i am thinking with all these problems and needs it is not worth any more than 10, any help or questions you guys might share would be great thanks.

Wow that is a mouthful! The boat is worth around 20k in great shape for its age, In my opinion. seems like it needs a lot of TLC great boat if whole I have had mine for 8 years, nice ride, performance and lower fuel consumption. I have the 350's and it runs 42MPH and cruises nice at 3200 going 28MPH. Hope that helps. Also get a marine survey

Much thanks for the reply, we took the boat out for a test run yesterday and all the things that didn't add up just kind of got worse, found that most of the starboard side of the hull was completly saturated and with the 155hp 4.3s it was haveing a hard time staying on plan at 3600 and about 20mph, that is with 5 people 1/2 fuel and no water or gear, any type of turn or lower RPMS and the boat would sink right off plane. So with that and all the other things that really didn't make sense (like how do the campertops get ruined when in a enclosed boat house for 20 years) my dad decided to look else were. I did have one more thing that is really confusing me though i finally got a chance to look at the HIN and while the boat is identical to yours same hull, strips, everything the HIN says it is a 89, am i crazy or did they make 2 different 300 in 89 and why did that boat then go to a 280 and back to the 300 with out any changes?

??? 89's had the 90 degree windsheild and 11' beam, my 92' has the curved windshield and 10.6' beam. Stay away from this boat. 92' with 350's is a great boat. Burns 12-15 gph overall and rides nice if you find anymore.
