Hello,

Really can use some guidance on trying to figure out what is going on here. I have a 2001 310 sundancer with 2 merc 350 mag mpi (fuel injected) motors. My issue is with the port engine. I can not get the motor to go past 3200 rpms. At startup and idle, motor seems completely fine. Took the boat out and one time around 2k rpm, it seemed like the motor disengaged and rpms dropped down to around 800. I put the engine back in neutral and re-engaged. Running the motor back up, i was still not able to get above 3200 rpms. Oil pressure went up to around 50 psi, engine temp was 170.

Everything worked fine prior to putting it away for the winter. I am kind of leaning towards the transmission. When i checked level, it was bright red and I did not notice any burnt smelling. Any help on what things to check would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe check fuel filter?

I had similar symptoms coming home from a trip last week on port motor.
Would slowly drop off then down to low Rpm.
Wound up being a bad ignition coil

Had similar issue last year. One of my injector wires was broken causing intermittent firing for that valve. Mechanics missed it 3 times then my motor failed. Go through ignition coil, plugs, wires, then make sure all injectors are working properly. It’s most likely not your transmission.
