I was talking to our marina office about some rules of etiquette around the docks and at the gas dock and pumpout docks.
I mentioned the ramp etiquette sticky we have here and they asked if I could put together a list for the other areas of the facility so they could post them in the office and hand out to New arrivals and first time boaters.
please post suggestions for any of these areas and I will compile them and hand them over with the CSR logo.
The big boat docks aren't much problem but the gas dock can be pure chaos on a weekend afternoon.
any suggestion will be appreciated and listed.

Marina tenants get be precedence !

I normally either tell them I'm coming in when I get to the marina, or phone if I'm on my way in.

A while back, I parked the car, went to the office had a chat, arranged to run the boat around. Walked out to the boat, started the engines, removed the side and rear canvas, dropped the ropes off.

Motored out into the marina and as I got to the end of the wharves, a boat raced in front of me from the channel (not from our marina) straight to the fuel wharf. I just through my hands up, the wind was such, I had no choice other than to reverse back to my slip and wait...

We have had a similar issue with slipping the boats. I now book in 12 months in advance. The marina manager was talking to me a couple of weeks back, and said it was stressing him out so much, that now he just places the priority on his regular customers (like me) and the others he will fit in when he can......need to point out we have limited slipping facilities in the area

For the gas dock or pump-out:
*Wait for your turn... get in line and position yourself so that it's obvious that you are in line.
*Make it quick... When it's your turn, take care of your business and move out. Don't dilly-dally!

For the pump-out:
*Don't leave it in a mess... flush and rinse the hose, and don't leave it hanging over the dock where the next guy wants to pull up!

I think the most obvious would be to travel through marina areas at a no-wake speed. From that one the rest mostly have to do with being respectful of others. That would include things like keeping the stereo turned down, shutting off your "Captain's Call" exhaust so everyone around you doesn't have to listen to your boat. Also, doing things like keeping your dock area clean and uncluttered. Quickly returning dock carts to the designated area so others can use them. Not fueling your boat at your dock (some people carry 5-gallon cans to their boat to save money), plus being careful when you fuel that gas or diesel doesn't overflow and spill into the water.

There are lots of others, but these will get you started.

Jim, first you need a facility designed to cater to boaters not the weekend party crowd...

I concur totally.. bit will never happen there.
especially now with out of state management

Good suggestions guys.. keep them coming.

WWhat gets me at the fuel dock is the 19' bowrider pulling to the center of the longest spot and going in to buy ice and chat rather than pulling into a courtesy slip ten feet away. Slot of the small boat crowd don't consider what it takes to get a larger boat to the dock near the pumps in a cross wind

Might not be a bad idea to try a series of buoys or small floats arranged in a manner similar to the lines leading to the tills at the fast food places. The line up starts at one end, goes in one direction only, and exits at the opposite end, with the entrance and exit clearly marked with arrows, and a string of floats blocking access from the middle. The fuel facility across the lake from us has a similar "one way" rule with a breakwater defining the line. It's not as regimental as I would like to see but it does work better than a free-for-all where the inconsiderate a$$holes get their gas or pump outs first and fastest.
