When I launched the boat 10 days ago and again this past weekend, I had to use the crossover switch to start my starboard engine. The port engine and the generator start with no problem. The PO replaced the port batteries 2 years ago but I believe the starboard batteries are factory, on their 6th season most likely DOA. My thoughts are to just replace the two starboard batteries and keep the two port for at least this season and next. My question is their any problem mixing two different battery vintages or would I be better to replace all four? I don't go out on the hook and run my generator virtually all the time I am out on the water. The replacements will be normal flooded cell Group 31 800 CCA batteries as specified in the owners manual.

Bob- I’ve always believed it is best to replace all at one time as once hooked up they are only as good as the weakest one. We used our local battery house REMY Battery, and had them delivered and installed by tech. Delivery / Installation was 50.00 over total cost. We went w/ Remy AGM Marine Battery, No Maintenance. It was relatively cheap once you see how far back that last battery goes!. Oh, ask if they have any blemished cases. They took 30% off the top and we've never detected a flaw but, who is looking. Mike,
Thanks for the suggestion. Did a quick internet check and the Remy AGM Group 31 battery is the cheapest I could find that provided the 800 CCA. BTW, I took your advice and had the SR50 installed and now have Sirius Satellite Weather on the boat.

Don't mix new and old batteries that are charged as one bank.
But each bank on your boat should be independent from the charger so you should be OK replacing only the entire stb bank.

After checking battery prices and the potential that my charger may not work with AGM or Gel Cell batteries I did exactly what you suggested and am having Skipper Bud's replace the starboard bank with Group 31 flooded cell like the ones from the factory. Thanks everone for the suggestions.
