Inboard 5.0L EFI with Alfpha 1 leg
Hey i need prop help also guys. I have a 2001 Sea Ray 190 BR with a 5.0L merc and an Alpha one merc leg. Currently i have a Mercury Marine Vengance stainless steel 3 blade prop on(48-16316 19P) is what is on it. I wanted to buy a second prop but not sure what to get? I have heard good things about 5 high props. I am not sure what brand and pitch to get?? I use the boat for tubing, waterski, wake boarding and just cruising. WHat you guys recommend??

You didn't post any test numbers for your current prop but if its within range and you want more out of the hole, then a 4 or 5 blade would help. You won't go as fast but midrange and lowend will be better. Adding blades increases drag so you should drop an inch in pitch to spin similar rpm's to your 3 blade. Tabs are also helpful for hole shot and low speed planing.

Sorry yes i am looking for more out of the hole for towing skiers and wakeboarders. Tabs is that the Smart tabs??

Smart tabs would be the easiest and least expensive route. I use a Powertech ele4 17 pitch for towing and my stock prop is the same 19 vengeance you have. I guess you would get similar numbers with that 4 blade compared to your 3 blade 19. Its 2 less inches but it is cupped to make up for the difference. It actually spins 50 rpm's less than the 19 vengeance and is 3 mph slower. There is a noticable difference in hole shot and midrange acceleration for me. High 5 is a good prop too but its a lot more expensive.

I don't have experience with the tabs but I do have a High 5 prop. My boat was spec'd with 19P Vengeance and I now have a 19P H5. It is a few MPH slower on the top end but it's a beast for tubing and hole shots, even with the V6. Anyway, I found that the 19P High Five will run at the spec'd RPM at WOT. Any lower pitch would have me over revving. My boat had a 21P H5 when i got it and it would not get to the sweet spot, power wise. The 19P woke it up. The information I was able to find on the H5 is that you use the same pitch as to what the boat was spec'd for. I found my 19P High Five on Craigslist (out of state), almost new, for around $250.

I have a 97 190 with a 5.7. I have a 21p 4 blade and smart tabs. I can jump out of the hole pulling whatever. And I am on plane by 12 mph on gps. On smooth water I am running 43 at 4500 rpm.

What is the quick silver QST 5 hi five prop 19P like? I have been looking at it i found new one for 439 dollars.

High 5 is great!! Be careful with tabs if you are doing a lot of wake boarding. I have heard that they wash out the wake quite a bit.
