Tops/covers to 8.1 horizon Mercruisers 2003. These are the ones that you can sit on top of the engines for maintenance and repair. Mine are cracked. I can't seem to find them anywhere new or used. Anyone who might have them or recommendations on whereto look?

I have never seen a flame arrestor cover where you can actually put your weight on it and sit on it. Can you post a picture of this?

You could try to repair them with a plastic welder. https://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Weld...cphy=9007586&hvtargid=pla-1945438290855&psc=1

I am not the best plastic surgeon but I have used a cheapo plastic welder with good results on motorcycles and atv’s.
Those engines have flame arrestors positioned to come out of the front of the engine as opposed to the top. There are still some sensitive parts on the top of the motor that you wouldn't want to put your weight on...

Good luck finding them. I have searched for a while. Mine are fine but was curious if I did break one how hard was it to find one. I opted to make this to allow me to climb in. The risers and three mounting screws, along with the distributed load from the plywood flex keeps everything in tact.

I leave mine off, it serves no purpose. I use a heavy rug when I need to service items.

Hi. Boatrboy responded with a pic. Thank you.
OK, that's kind of what I had thought. The pics of his Mercruiser covers are what I had in mind. The Mercruiser covers are not meant to be stepped/laid on. But, sure, if you make something - go for it. Obviously, just make sure the contact points are solid.
