Anyone know a good mobile mechanic who can replace cutless bearings? Prefer they have a bearing press, I don't want the shaft removed. Boat is located in Toms River, NJ. Thanks...

Hey Larry
Try this guy

http://www.joesmobilemarine.net/

He came to the AC trip the past two years and was an advertiser on the T-shirts. Tell him Ron the guy who organizes the AC trip sent you. He'll charge you double ;-)

I'm kidding. I kinda know Joe but was implying that my name wouldn't mean jack sh*t when it comes time to pay the piper. Not even sure if he has the equipment to remove a CB without pulling the shaft, but it couldn't hurt to ask. Also, we try to patronize our advertisers!

Hey Ron, thanks for the info. Yes, I've seen him around at LPM and was one that I was considering calling. Although they are "building" a service department with the new GM recently hired at the marina, no one has a bearing press and they don't want to buy one, so I'm on my own to find a service guy. I'll mention your name anyway, maybe I'll get the nice guy discount?

BTW - I don't know if I've seen your new boat until now. Beautiful and congrats! Thanks again!

Thanks Larry. Good luck with the discount.

I had to replace the dripless and did the CB at the same time. Pulling the shaft wasn't bad at all and you shouldn't need to re-align anything. Might be tough to find someone with the necessary hydraulics.
