Well, after reviewing all the problems with the "new" 1989 200 I've decided to not do the work myself. I travel for work a bit too much to take this on myself and would rather pay to have done correctly.

trim sensors
bellows has hole in it
upper unit needs gasket
ventilation plate needs small peice welded back on
(broken off from improper Doelfin install)
impeller replace


I've noticed a bunch of you folks live in TN. I live in Manchester, boat at Tim's Ford mostly. Anyone in this area (Tullahoma, Estill Springs, Winchester) would be best - but also will take to Nashville area, Chattanooga, even down to Allatoona in GA (we have a shop there I visit a once a month or so).

Any recommendations for pulling a sterndrive and going over completely?

Try Travis Boating Center 931-967-1707. They are located at the Tims Ford Marina and used to be a full service Mercruiser repair facility. They are on the lake so the good thing is that they can run a boat properly after repairing it to check performance.

I can highly recommend Dannie Thompson. He lives in Cookeville close to Center Hill. He is freelance now but for years with Erwin and also at a Marina on Center Hill.

He travels throughout TN. At least he does to Nashville to service mine and other boats.

Have you used them? I'm new to TN, the Bayliner never needed anything I couldn't do.
