Hello all,
I've got a water fill that is apparently spilling into the bilge area that is located in front of the engine room bulkhead making it impossible to access. I believe the tank fill hose has come loose, possibly a broken fitting because it only triggers the forward emergency pump after I have filled the fresh water tank and stops cycling after some water has been remove through a faucet. I called Searay Tech support over a week ago, the support person could not explain the access procedure. I believe it's under the salon sofa, it does have a storage under the cushions and it is carpeted. I don't want to remove the carpet to find the access cover unless I'm sure. Does anyone have experience with the 2004 Sundancer? The 2005-2009 500/52 is the same boat. Any confirmation of the access cover would be helpful.
Thanks,
Bow Tie

Any way you can sound the area you suspect might have an access hatch ?
Screwdriver end, soft mallet etc.. Might get a different sound when tapping along the floor .

Steve,
I didn't feel any seam in the floor, the carpet is thick enough to hide small or flat head screws. Looks like I'll be cutting a rug this weekend. Thanks for your idea though. I just don't like to remove anything unless I'm sure about it, maybe I'll cut out the entire carpet inside the storage area. That way I won't cut in the wrong area and it will be in one piece.

Thanks again,
Bow Tie

Remove the carpet in the storage area under the sofa, there are three small access hatches under there that provide access to the fills at the tank and tank level sensor. Immediately aft of that is a vertical access panel that gets you to the bilge pump.

Emagine, thank you very much for the info, big help. I suspected that's the access area, I just didn't want to guess.

Thanks again,
Bow Tie

Emagine, I removed the carpet and access covers, no leaks. I'll have to go further with this as soon as I get some time. Probably something simple, the forward emergency pump only cycles when the tank is topped off using the starboard water tank fill. I'm moving the boat to NC for the winter on October 6th. Hopefully, I can find it before I go otherwise it won't be until February.
Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

I had a similar situation on a 330. I was getting water under the aft berth in one compartment.. Turned out to be a leaking tank. It only leaked when we would fill the tank and let the water just run in the tank. That put pressure on the tank to the point it would leak. After tearing up the back berth I found the problem. Purchased a plastic welder and fixed the problem.

I had a similar situation although the symptom was different. My tank was leaking water into that bilge. Sometimes it would leak down to a quarter tank, and other times completely empty the tank. After a lot of messing around and what I called investigation, that was really procrastination; I removed and replaced the tank last month. The tank was cracked in two places on the bottom.
