I am installing a new anchor roller on my 1995 250 sundancer I am wondering what to do
with the door on the anchor locker to let the anchor chain into the locker when the anchor is stored on the roller there is a hole in the door big enough for rope but not chain
has anyone any advice?

what's the door made of? is it fiberglass or a composite material. my crownline's was made of hard plastic/composite that was solid and could be drilled through without creating frayed edges (with a hole saw). if you have to make a hole, you could cover it with one of these things...

the door is fiberglass I dont want to use a pipe fiting like that because I open the door
when hauling up the anchor and lay the line in the locker by hand

Dumb question: Could you go with a smaller chain? Also We're thinking about adding an anchor roller to our 1996 250, where did you get yours? We're trying to figure out what model to get. Got a suggestion?

you CAN drill through fiberglass with a hole saw. it needs to be very new/sharp and you have to cover the entire area with masking tape to prevent chipping and you have to be pretty ballsy. i still think you'd need to line the orefice with something, since chain (hard metal) will be passing through it.

chazaroo I went with a winline URM-3 from west marine I installed it today it looks cool
I am still thinking about the chain issue I was using 5/16 chain I had a piece of 1/4" chain
it still wont let the door close but I think Ill switch to the1/4" anyway

Thanks for the info. How easy was the install? And what kind of anchor do you have?

the install was pretty easy i had to drill the holes in the roller you need a new drill bit to drill
stainless steel. i needed a helper to hold nuts under the deck from the anchor locker with a socket wrench taped to a 2 foot rod
