The feed line from the outdrive could be corroded/restricted where it passes through the transom. This is a not-too-uncommon problem with the Bravo drives. More likely on a saltwater boat though. Also, you could just have something blocking the water passage from the drive somewhere. Lack of water will toast the impeller quickly.
I had a co-working who spent a year and a half chasing overheating problems, and it turned out that there was a mollusk shell stuck (grown?) in the water intake inside the outdrive. If no water comes in, then work your way back through the system.
