Hello everyone. I have a 1975 searay srv 220 with a 302 motor. I am looking to buy a new prop for my boat but not sure of the size and pitch needed. The boat is mostly used for fishing and riding around. I do not have the owners manual to find anything out so any help on prop size and pitch would really be appreciated. Just want the best performance. Thanks!

What do you currently have on the boat?

The only way to really know is what your WOT RPM's are and what they are supposed to be. That's your starting point.

I am not sure of how to tell the pitch that is on there now. Also when I have been out I never thought to pay attention to my wot rpms. I took it out 2 days ago and there was a vibration at higher speeds. I do have a little play in the prop when I grab it and turn it left and right and pull on it. I can't tighten it down anymore either. I just hope a new prop will take care of the vibration and it isn't anything major. If a 4 blade will get the boat up faster then that is probably what I will get. Just have to figure out the pitch now. Someone also told me a 23 pitch will run my boat at 3500 wot rpms and 40 mph. Just not sure how accurate that is.

There will be numbers on the prop. for example: 23P. If you go to a 4 blade prop, drop down in pitch a number or 2 and install a new hub. Most come with a new hub. There should be no lateral play in a hub but a little in and out is fine.
