Need help on dash!

Hello fellow CSR members. I am in need of some help please. I have a 1988 Sea Ray 250 Cuddy and the dash seems to be rotting. Especially right above the steering column. Has anyone run into this problem or a similar problem? What is the best and easiest way to repair this? The guy that I bought from used it as just another fishing boat. Hey, this is a Sea Ray, I have dreamed of owning one for years. Now she is need of a little help comming back to life.

If it's like the 84 210 my dad had yrs ago, it just need reupholstered

not sure if they are similar but on my 78 240 the "dash" is just a vinyl covered wood panel to house the guages
and comes off with a few screws. Mine had water dripping out from under it when I got the boat and I found
a drain channel that went out under the side of the windshield clogged on the stb side.
the wood was mahogany under the covering so no rot was present at that time.
still need to recover it though...maybe when I change the rest of the guages if I have her that long.
