Trying to get 470 moved north. My captain is struggling with water in one fuel tank. He was thinking he bought it, but now thinks it is coming from the sea water cooling. Does anyone know if the 2010 Cummins 480 use a fuel cooling system? Any help or knowledge would be appreciated!

The theory is the heat exchanger is leaking sea water into the return fuel line which obviously adding water to the fuel supply. Anyone have any insight or heard if this in an issue?

Your qsb's have fuel coolers, there is a not to exceed spec on fuel temperature that can be surpassed when hot return fuel is returning to tanks that have low levels of fuel in them in a hot engine room. If your coolers are leaking, I would suspect you would see a sheen in your exhaust water. Sorry, this is about all the help I can be. Good Luck

hey Scott I'd suggest you get in touch with the closest Cummins Marine service folks and see about getting someone down there. Also you could pm Rusty Higgins on this forum - Rusty is an awesome resource, works at Sea Ray and usually has an answer to every issue any of us come up with. Where is your boat currently at in Fla?....don
