After teh traumatic event of loosing our 340DA last winter we are now looking into a local 1989 420DA with 375hp 3208 Cats. Nice big boat, good shape and cheap.

I had a slip neighbor with one and liked the layout but know little of this model.

Can I ask for expert advice and input from friends here who know this model and its strengths and weaknesses?

Thank you!

Ask your wife first if she likes 'dated looking' boats.

It's definitely not going to be as nice as your 340.

I just went through this and my wife put the kabash on a '94 400EC because it was 'dated'.

We had a 1990 on SML 4 to 5 years ago. It is a great boat, kinda wish we still had that boat. I would look for a gas model for up there, as diesel is hard to get. Unless SMYC has changed their policy, they would not let a diesel truck into the marina. We sold ours to a guy named Chuck Marshall, he keeps it at Pelican Point, the boat is now called Marshall Law, I'm sure he would happy to show it to you, Good luck with you hunt.

We're familiar with that model SeaRay. Our boat neighbor, Dave P. [he's somewhere on this site ;] has one up in the Thousand Islands, Ny. It is a beautifully laid out boat, a fantastic cockpit and is a great boat for entertaining. His aft cabin has a sliding door which makes for a way cool guest cabin- very adult friendly and the forward master has a hard door too. Nice. It is also very easy to work in the engine compartment. Dave's is a gas boat. We've spent many happy cocktail hours on his Laurie Ann.
It's a pretty good choice, but talk to Dave. Maybe he'll see this post?
