Howdy -

I have a 2005 185 Sport sitting on a Shoreland'r trailer. A couple of weeks ago, I had a bit of a trailering incident (lost a wheel at 55mph... wheels studs sheered off at the drum).

Anyhow, that's a different thread for a different time. I am currently trying to replace my tongue jack that got mangled by the tow truck. My boat is currently at the shop (checking to see if my extended warranty will cover the axle breakage). Can someone that has their boat at the house go out and look and the model# and manufacturer on the jack? Mine is directly connected to the profile 2000 winch on the trailer.

I'm trying to order one and get it cheaper than I can at the dealer (the parts guy wasn't very helpful... he said they just order them from the local trailer shop, and I have a feeling that the ones that they can get are different than the one already on there).

Thanks for any help!!!

Thanks. I looked through all of my old pictures, but I don't have anything close enough to read from. I haven't had much luck searching on line either, so I'm hoping someone has the boat in the garage and can check it out.

Looking through my pics, is this the type of jack you have?

ShoreLand'r doesn't make their own jack. So by your dealer getting it through a "local trailer shop" means they are more than likely trying to help you by saving you a couple of bucks. I can't say for sure since I'm not at the store, but I'd guess it's a Dutton 800lb unit.

That's exactly the same as what I've got. After looking a little more, I believe it is a Dutton, as Lazy has suggested.

If the dealer was really trying to save me a couple of bucks, they would order the jack online. ;) The local trailer shop (Magnum) is far from cheap (although they do very good work).

That's too bad that this trailer shop is so expensive... or that your dealer doesn't have access to these type of parts through other suppliers. There's a big market for parts and only offering these things through manufacturers is not the best way to earn business.

Try Cabelos. I got a replacement for my ShoreLand'r trailer there last year. They carry Dutton-Lainson and several others. http://www.cabelas.com/ and search for trailer jack. The Dutton works great.

Thanks for the tip. As far as replacing it goes, do I have to remove the Profile winch from the trailer? I can't picture in my head how to get a wrench on the backside....

I have an old Profile 2000 in my shed. Yes, you would need to remove the entire assembly to get at the two bolts. Should take all of about 10 minutes to remove assembly.

Depending on what model new jack you get, they can simply be bolted onto the trailer frame wherever you want. If you want to go that route, that is.
