I’m trying to order a replacement Thermostat but I’m getting conflicting part numbers at websites.

Our boat model year is 2003 and we have gas 5.0L V8 small block merc’s with MPI.

Some websites say I need 807252T2 others say 807252T5.

Does anyone know the difference between these two thermostats and what one is the correct one for my motor? I believe I need a 160 degree thermostat.

This past weekend we removed the thermostat in the port engine, heated until it opened, wiped out debris on the lip then reinstalled. It worked correctly a couple of times but then the slow long warm up time issue on just this engine returned. The next thing I plan to do is to replace the thermostat.

OK, the kits includes the gaskets.

Still, even the Mercury site lists 2 different part numbers.

807252T 5 or 807252Q 5

Does anyone know the difference between these two parts?

Mercury website:
http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com/us/

Both parts say "Fits 1987 and newer GM engines with standard cooling requiring a 160 degree thermostat."

You may of done this (and have gotten one of your part numbers from there) but have you tried putting your engine serial number into Mercury's website to see what it says?

Unfortunately I don’t have my engine serial numbers here.

I may need to drive down there to get it.

Thank you for the help though.

Just as a follow up, I found out the only difference is brand name. The Q stands for quick silver, the parts are the same.

No, what you originally said was........
"807252T2 others say 807252T5."

The 2 is the standard, 5L and the other is for a high performance Ski boat thermostat.

Now I wan't pics of the secret compartment.
