I am in the market for a larger yacht and am considering the Bayliner 4788 {1998 or newer} I like the pilothouse design...anybody have experience with these boats?.... I know it is sacrilege to be asking the Searay guys, but????
{please be kind}
Thanks,
Gary

I was in Roche Harbor last weekend surrounded by them! Banana Boats had a big party for these guys. Most were Bayliners, but I saw some Silvertons, California Yachts and some others. What I found amazing was the lack of access when trying to dock! Especially on the Silverton's and some Carver models. One of the Bay's was attrocius too, but I can't remember which model. They are popular around the Juans and there are a lot that are being neglected or not used at all right now due to the economy. It's a GREAT time to move up.

They do have a Baysinker aka Bayliner owners club. :smt043.
You could ask over there its on the poor-side of town.
So you might need to carry a gun. .

Is that the one that tips over? Bayliner made a bridge boat, or motor yacht or something like that, which had such a large and heavy bridge that in a tight turn when the boat heeled over and kept on heeling over until she laid down. I blame it on the owners for buying a dock queen / floating condo and then foolishly expecting to use a dock queen as a boat.

I think that boat was the 2850 FB with a single engine and Bayliners quick fix was ....
That they put a ton or more of lead in the center bilge to stop it from happening. :wow:

good memory.

...and some good engineering, too!

I thought it was a bigger boat. Oh well.

I'm ashamed to say I was a member over there for 8yrs .
Until one mod thought I didn't need to be there. :smt043

I remember that great debate as to why Bayliner did that.
I tried to find that thread but it must of been deleted. :smt021

OK guys, i said be kind!... oh, and I own a magma BBQ.
If anyone has actually helmed one of the 4788's and has constructive criticism.... that would be good. I do like the 44 ft Searays but the layout on the pilot house boats suits us better. Any other suggestions would be welcome.
Cheers
