A friend of mine is buying a boat (non-SR) in Vera Beach and I'm flying in with him to check it out next weekend.

We're planning on Staying Friday & Saturday night in Fort Lauderdale and wanted to know where to stay. Preferable near the water and an interesting area. Looking for suggestions on a hotel. Not Motel 6 and not the 4 seasons. Something decent in the middle.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try Bahia Mar. Rooms are reasonable and right next to the marina. The beach is right across the street. Water Taxi picks up at the marina also. Was there last year and it was a great time.

Thanks everyone. After checking it all out we ended up at the W.

Will be doing a drive up to Vero Beach to inspect the boat on Saturday but will spend the rest of our time if FL. Where's a good place to have a burger and beer and watch the big boats go by? Dinner suggestions also appreciated.

The W is a GREAT hotel.

Be forwarded though, it is by no means a "quiet" hotel if thats what you were looking for. Ive been to awesome parties there and their club is pretty good too.

Cool, you're gonna like the hotel.

Also, for a GREAT experience, go to PIRATE REPUBLIC and order the KOBE burger with Catupiry cheese.
Ask for Roberto (owner) and tell him Aldo from MotoSociety sent you.

Looked it up. Looks like a great place. Will definitely try and ride the water taxi there. Thanks.

Did you guys make it here?

Yes. What a GREAT town! I was blown away.

We stayed at the W. Took the water taxi to Pirates Republic on Friday afternoon. It was pretty quiet but still a lot of fun. The taxi ride itself was eye opening and I now feel sufficiently poor. We enjoyed the W bars till pretty late on Friday night. On Saturday we made the drive up to Vero Beach to check out the boat. Unfortunately that turned out to be a bust. Fun to get out on the Intercoastal though for the test drive. That night we hit Coconuts for an excellent meal and people watching. Stopped at The Elbow Room and the W bars again before turning in.

Can't wait to get my wife down there for a long weekend.

Thanks to everyone for all your tips.

It sounds like you had a great time. Sorry to hear the boat didn't live up to your expectations.

Next time you're in town, hit me up; we can take you on a tour of Miami on the water.
