My Westerbeke 4.5 BCGB stopped putting out voltage a couple weeks ago. It actually puts out enough to make the needle move in the panel, but not very far. I had a guy helping me troubleshoot it and he found that the capacitor was bad, but replacing it hasn't made any difference. I think I'm at the point where I need some professional help, and I don't want to lay the boat up for several weeks (or longer) with my regular mechanic if I can avoid it.

Any recommendations out there? Thanks

Did Justin check it out?

Check the engine RPM. When was the last tune up? Fouled plugs = fouled engine RPM = fouled AC output.

The engine is most likely a Mitsu or a Daihatsu mini-truck. The folks at FGP are great. Hooked me up with parts for my 4.5 for a fraction of the cost. W'beke does not make their engines and I don't know if they even do their own electrical side. There are alternatives to their holding you hostage.

Good luck.
