I created a route on the Navionics PC app, and am trying to get it into my chartplotter.

I imported the ARCHIVE.fsh file into the C80, however, it looks like it just imported it as a bunch of waypoints, not a route.

Is there an easy way to turn those random waypoints into a route to file?

Thank you!

no one? No one does importing into their C80?

I tried making a route on the C80 and it's not very intuitive.

What tools are you using?

When you imported it from the card to the C80 use the "Import All" button. You may have just imported the waypoints and not the routes. Same thing on the export function of the software, make sure you export all.

From the manual:

Press “Data” key, select “Archive and Data Transfer”, then select “Retrieve from card”, then select the “RTE” (this is for routes, it defaults to WPT which is way points only) . From this point you can select any or all the routes you have loaded to the card.

Here is a link to a thread I did some time ago about offline plotting:

I have used the Raymarine planning app for years; works fine and waypoint/route transfers via chip has never been a problem. Mine allows for using free NOAA charts so no need to use the chart chip at home although doing that is supported. Latest version is available for free here:http://www.raymarine.com/view/?id=510. This looks like a little different than what I've been using so I can't testify as to exactly how well it works these days.

Downloading RayTech now. we'll see if that works. So long as I can import the NOAA maps somehow and not have to mess moving the card around or buying that special adapter, I'll be happy.

So an update. I downloaded the Raytech software, definitely not as clean of an interface as the Navionics one.

Bill - when I did the import, it seems to only show waypoints, and not routes when I pull the archive file into the C80.

First things first, did you follow this instruction on loading the routes. This part is very important, as it tells the import feature just what to import.

“Press “Data” key, select “Archive and Data Transfer”, then select “Retrieve from card”, then select the “RTE” (this is for routes, it defaults to WPT which is way points only) . From this point you can select any or all the routes you have loaded to the card.’

If you do not select “RTE” it will not import the routes from the card. If you do select it you will see a list of all the routes by name you exported to the card. From the list you can select one or all the routes on the card to import to the C80

After that is complete use the ROUTE key and then MANAGE route key. If the above step was completed properly you will see a list on the C80 of all the route names you imported. At that point you have to select each one (one at a time) and use the “Show on Chart” selection for it. You can display one or all your routes on the chart using this feature. You can also change the color of the route display, which is helpful to avoid confusing the route with the other data on the chart.

If you have not already done so go to the RayMarine website and download a copy of the C80 manual. It will be a good reference for all the features available.

That is the issue. When I move to RTE, it doesn't show anything, however, I know the navionics software exports the routes...

I'm not sure why it is not seeing the routes on the archive.fsh file.

I had that problem not long ago, I used another SD card and it worked fine.

Interesting. I have 2 different CF cards I've tried. One was the old navionics card, the other a 'clean' one.

I'm just wondering how buggy the navionics app is.

I haven't had the time to play with that ray tech software. When I couldn't figure out how to pan the maps in a few seconds, I gave up lol

I bought the Navoinics card reader especially from them. When plugged into my USB port it will load my local charts into the Ray Tech software. That way I can plot all my courses on the bay in great detail because all the chart data, especially water depths are shown. Once I’m done I just export it to the same card and then plug back into my C80 and read them in. I also have used a blank card before, but since my Navonics card is already plugged in it is just as easy to use it. I got used to using the software and can easily plot and save new courses. I did our entire trip from Baltimore to New York using the software. Though the trip up was not hard to navigate, it was helpful in planning inlet stops along the way.

I would not use the Navonics chart card without their reader though. I know they have done something special to it so you can’t copy their charts from one card to another.
