Navionics Great Lakes app for iPhone

A few weeks ago I purchased the great lakes application for my iPhone. The price had been dropped from $50 to $9.99 so I figured what the hell. In short, this app is amazing for the money! The data in my area (Georgian Bay) is top notch, and the interface is extremely simple. It downloads all the data to your phone at purchase, so this app works seamlessly even if you are in an area with no service. A few weeks ago I was snowmobiling through the small craft route just north of honey harbour and I checked my position.... It placed me on the chart probably within 20ft! Not bad for using your cell phone as a chart plotter! This is definately no replacement for your onboard electronics, but for the dinghy, sea doo , or as a back up it is sure worth the money!!!

I think the iPhone makes a pretty capable GPS/Chartplotter. I often choose it over my built in Lowrance....but I'm on an inland lake and the shoreline is never out of site.

A lot of potential in a small package.

really like the app too.. but I paid the full price back then about a week ahead of the price drop.. :smt021
