Has anyone sailed on the Navigator of the Seas? Is she a nice ship? I've been on a couple other Royal Caribbean Ships and they were beautiful. Thanks.

I've been on Serenade of the Seas, it's in a slightly smaller class, 2500 vs 3100 passengers. (You can compare details on the ships on www.royalcaribbean.com ) Serenade was an awesome boat. The one you're talking about even has a skating rink!

Nice!

You can probably get more comments/info on cruisecritic.com

I believe it was "Navigator" that we cruised on in '95. Great ship. We've cruised NCL lately - rather than RCL - as we enjoy the "Freestyle" dining offered by NCL...

My wife and I took a seven day boat ride of the Western Carribean on the then-new Navigator of the Seas in '03. It was an awesome ship, unbelievably huge.

It was our first cruise, and I was a little shocked when I jumped into the pool and tasted salt.

Nope, I'm a Princess man...

I had the same thought (salt water in the pool) the first time I cruised (we've been 4-5 times). Found out they drain/refill them every day to keep them clean.

I have found out something cool. You can go up to the deck above the bridge and look down, through glass panels, into the bridge as the Captain and crew navigate/steer the ship.

Yes, you are correct......I thought I had a picture of that but turns out it was on the video I shot. We went in Jan. 2004, at the time Navigator of the Seas was the largest cruise ship in the world, while we were at sea they launched the Queen Mary 2, it became the largest. You must book a show at the ice rink, professional ice skaters putting on a show, on a ship, while at sea, incredible. The fit and finish thru out the ship was beautiful, I was so impressed I bought the DVD on how the ship was built..........You will have a blast.

My wife and I cruised Navigator of the Seas to the Eastern Carribean in 2004. At the time, it was an awesome ship and yes, you can watch the crew through glass panels over them (they do have the abilty to close the viewing area and they did this one time).

You will certainly enjoy this cruise!

We've sailed with RCI number of times on majority of their class. Comparing Voyager class (Navigator is voyager class)to Freedom class (Freedom, Liberty of the seas) we liked Voyager class better. While sailing on Mariner of the seas I think it was a very good combination of all features and things that were offered to the number of passengers on board. While cruising on Liberty of the seas (at that time the largest in the world, b/c she was 2" longer her sisterships) we felt that 15% larger capacity added mostly to fit more people, while dining rooms and breakfast rooms felt over crowded. If this is your first cruise, take your time to understand what you're looking to get out of the trip. There're tons of different options, so choose your itinerary wisely. The fact what itenerary you choose will also result in the type of people you'll be cruising with. For example, 10 days day-at-sea/day-at-port will attract older crowd, while 7 days with 5 ports will attract yanger crowds. This is what we've observed ourselves and got the same opinion from Cruise Ambassador. Also, new things like surfing pools take away some room for what was used for other activities. If you have kids, be also carefull as to what each ship has to offer. Some have more room for teens and some geared more to younger kids.

I did the bridge tour and saw through that glass floor, very impressive.

Good luck,
Alex.

Thanks for the input. This will be our 4th cruise, 2nd with Royal Caribbean. We love cruising, it's hard to beat the cost for what you get. We tried doing a long weekend in the Keys, Mexico, All-inclusive resorts, Vegas, nothing could touch the price on cruise's right now. Coming from Michigan in the middle of Janurary, we'll be more than ready to just get out on the water (without it being frozen at least).

Have not been on the Navigator but have been on many RC ships and we have never been disappointed. I'm sure it will be wonderful.

Sailing on the Monarch in January which will be our fifth cruise on RC. Have been on Carnival, Holland America, and Norwegian and we like RC the best and always try to cruise on that line (though I have heard good things about Princess and Celebrity as well). We will not cruise on Carnival again. I won't take up space here to tell the story (or stories...)

Enjoy! I'm sure you'll love the Navigator.

Sailed the Navigator last April 2009 and really love the Voyageur class of RCCL.
The amenities are wonderful and the crew are extremely pleasant and helpful.
The ship is amazing!!!!
You don`t stop hearing from the crew :MY PLEASURE: for anything you request.
We`ve sailed 7 time on RCCL and have completed 17 cruises. RCCL is our favorite.
Looking forward to an Oasis of the Seas adventure.
Enjoy!!!

If it is not too late to reply, i was on her last year and one of the nicest cruise ships I have been on.:smt038
