The past weekend was a big one for us. We finished remodeling a house we bought for our 22 yr old daughter and moved her in. Wife's handling it pretty well. I'm trying to think of something to do with the empty bedroom we now have. We don't need 4 bedrooms since its just the two of us now and we still sleep in the same bedroom, so I suggested a naked room like Terry Bradshaw's. not surprisingly I got the "look" (aka you're an idiot). But, I guess that's ok because I don't think want to mess with taking care of an aquarium anyway. I could make it a shrine to our boats past and present but i'm not sure how that would go over either. anyway, just looking for ideas from the empty-nesters.

Good news is we're going to the boat this weekend. Hope to get some waxing done and some other odds and ends done before we close things up in a couple weeks. going to bring my gen enclosure panels home to re-soundproof this winter. I've also been kicking around the idea of selling the Novurania. It's a 100hp turbocharged 50+ mph rocketship of a RIB and a blast to run but I'm thinking about something a little bigger LOA-wise or maybe even a little whaler to tinker on over the winter. I hate when its time to line up the winter pojects.

Consider making the extra room into an office.

After about 25 years of working out of a briefcase on airplanes, I was ready for an office when I retired. I still manage my own business/investments and needed some space. A perfect storm of sorts occurred when our oldest got married, moved to Charlotte and AM South merged with Regions and sold off their Nashville office equipment. We moved the kids and I bought 4 executive desks from their auction to work with. I ended up with a large desk and custom credenza sized for 3 computers and a TV, all refinished/refurbished to suit me. Try it.....you'll like the piece and quiet.

I am also with you on a Whaler.......I "re-did" a 15 Dauntless 3 winters ago and its in the barn in Florida. It is a blast to go exploring in on the days my wife's shopping days. You don't need 100hp.....I have discovered that a 75 Merc pushes a 15 Whaler fast enough to jar your teeth if you let a wake slip up on you and the maintenance is nothing.

I like that Frank was the first to respond to the Naked room thread.
I'm glad it wasn't me. Oh to be so lucky to have someone buy me a house when I was 22. I had to buy mine myself. Good for you though. If I could I'd do it for my kids, at least help them out.

Good luck with the new office/woodworking/tinkering/aquariam/mancave/naked room.

The house is an investment and we intend to flip it but we're going to let her stay there for a couple years to save up some money. She'll pay some rent and put some sweat equity into the place and when we do flip it, we'll give her a cut of the deal. Should be a win-win.

We have a study but it's more of a library than an office so that's an idea to think about. I just don't want to be tempted to bring more work home than I already do.

Live-aboard...6 yrs 11 mos 5 days.

I say make it a Jungle room with lots of tropical foliage and exotic wood. You could release a couple Burmese pythons to populate the habitat. Also instead of an aquarium I Invision a pool in the floor where you can keep a pet Cayman or gator. Just keep the little dogs or cats out of there so they don't get ate.

The best part is it can still be a naked room. You could go in there and play Adam and Eve with your wife.

Seriously you can't afford not to do this project in some form.

You have a boat. I'm pretty sure anything outside of a 1/2 mile from land = naked time if you desire.

I love having my own Den/Gun Room/Man Cave. TV, stereo, toys, reloading supplies, safe, etc. Mine is 19x13 in our finished basement off the family room. Has a dead bolt and totally under my control. Boating & Gun pictures/banners/signs....my special place! I also have an office for my business and do all my own billing/quotes etc. One child on his own in Erie and daughter finishing college. Life is good and modesty is now an option. I laughed so hard at Terry Bradshaw and his naked room scenes, Mike.

Terry Bradshaw in the naked room is one of those things you can't unsee, want to poke your minds eye out. On the other hand a naked room might be nice if one could control the number of pillows in it. MM

Great thread! I got a good chuckle out of the "naked room" idea. I can't really add to it as I'm a long time bachelor so the man cave / naked room / whatever is the whole damn house. I'm thinking of turning my extra living room into a indoor shop. So maybe a project room?

Yep, a scene that's burned into the brain forever. From "Failure to launch" for those who aren't following us. Funny movie.

Going today to buy a recliner. Figure that's a good start. Going pillow-free Mike...pillow-free.
