Looking at a 260DA Sundancer and I'm curious as to how they sleep. Are they comfortable enough to sleep on a regular basis. Thanks for your help.

Sleeping for how many?? Adults, children??? Extended stays or overnights?? at a marina or on the hook?? Need a more specific question and I'm positive more specific answers will follow

Lt. Dan is right - that really depends. My wife and I can sleep in the V-berth without a problem. I take the long side, and she takes the short side (and I'm 6' tall).

That aft berth is really what you make of it. We don't have kids, but it would seem to hold maybe 2 kids OR 1 adult (I can fit under there, and it's not too bad). 2 adults under there is kind of coffin-like and feels like you've been buried alive. :wow:

Lt Dan is correct.

Also, tell us more about you.

Are you the type that can sleep fine in a camper? How about a tent? If you are the ‘5 star hotel’ type then no, the 260 dancer will not give you a good nights sleep.

If you are like many of us here, then yes. I long for sleeping onboard. I wait all winter for it.

Next, what area? Are you are in a climate that gets very hot? Does the specific boat you are considering have air conditioning? It goes on and on.

I concur. At 6'1" I have to sleep on an angle in the mid cabin, and the admiral was not at all happy about competing with the low ceiling at the step.

Since no kids on board we use the V berth, and for a little added comfort we bought a memory foam pad and cut to shape. With a fitted sheet over the foam and the comforter pulled up its a great sleep. For the day, we roll up the memory foam at the front of the Vberth - it compresses quite well and that area is not used for much else.

So have a great summer on the water - the 260 is a great cruiser!

Too many ?????'s...!!!! Usually it will be the two of us maybe a couple of "young adults" to visit from college. We are in the south and WILL have A/C. Most likely one nighters and usually docked. There will be occasions on the "hook". Thanks for all your help.

I've had my 2007 260 for a year now and have slept on it about 1-2 times each month. It's usually me alone in the vberth and I find it comfortable and there is still space for my wife (if I remove gear, bags, etc.).

In the aft berth it's usually my 6 year old and plenty of space for her. If I'm solo, I'll sleep there and find it OK, but need to sleep at an angle to have some extra space.

A factor to take into account is where to place the gear for the people that will be onboard sleeping. On the 260, 2 adults, 2 kids and gear will be doable, but tight.

A remember you need to convert the berth to table/bed each night/morning. That's where the 280 comes in with a separate dinnette.

It all depends on your size and figure. At 6'6" I was OK by myself in the v berth and uncomfortable but managed in the midberth. We never even tried it with all four of us, just the wife and I and that was it, four would be too cramped. I recommend to think long and hard about what you really want to do with the boat before buying. If you think you would like to spend more than a few nights per season onboard, then you should consider something larger even if it means something a little older. You'll be happier in the long run. Plus, the 260 has some handling quirks you should check into if you haven't already, do a search here for them. I owned my 260 for 2 weeks before realizing we would like to be able to take longer and more frequent overnights and extended week + stays. We sold it after only 6 months because it was not the right decision in the first place for our needs. SB

I managed to sleep just fine in the cabin of a 190CC, but my dad on the other hand is thinking of trading his 260DA in on a bigger boat mainly because of the v-birth bed. Its a bit short, and if you like to stretch out this is not for you.

The best thing to do would be to go look at the 26 and lay on the bed with whoever your going to be sharing it with. Give it 10 minutes or so, and youll know if its doable.

Again, I dont have an issue with it, but I could see how someone would.

What year is it?
I'm 6-1"and sleep OK. I'd like to get the memory foam and put it on the cushions. But I like sleeping on it just fine. Admiral's on the shot side of the V, I'm on the other, the twins (6) are in the coffin

I just spent five nights in a row on my 260. We have no kids so the mid-coffin is for storage. I'm 6'2 and sleep on the long side of the v berth. My wife is 5'2 and sleeps on the short side. We probably spend 10 night a month on her and as of yet have no issues with space or comfort. A/C is a must in any climate. If your going to be on hte hook a generator is a must.

I like that shot in your signature, Alex. It looks like you just landed after coming off a decent sized roller....

It's amazing the spray she'll put off. Makes for good pictures. That was a Lake Erie 1-3 roller. There wasn't the typical chop that day. Thanks for the compliment

We had a 260 and moved up to a 310 after 1 summer. My wife hated having to "put up and take down" the v-berth bed everyday (although, it didn't bother her that I had to do the same with camper canvas...go figure).

We had 2 adults in the v-berth (I'm 6'0, she's 5'10) and a 9 and 13 yr old in the aft. One of the other reasons we went with the 310 is that our 13 yr old is 5'10 and was pretty tight down in the aft with her sister. Now, they have plenty of room!

I also recommend the "egg shell" pad and maybe even a thick mattress pad as well.
