Hello,

Well, I purchased my first powerboat this summer. It's been very enjoyable. But, one thing has been bugging me and I need some help.
There's one switch on the helm I can't figure out what it does.

In the picture below, it's the switch with a squiggly line in a box with arrows on either side. Any identification help would be greatly appreciated!

I believe it is for the water pump. I turn the breaker on in the MDP and also press that switch on the helm. I have always turned on that switch, the one with the speaker and the one for the depth sounder. I cannot remember if I have tried just flipping the switch for the water system in the MDP and not pressed the one on the helm.

Bottom Line, thanks for the quick response. I have never turned that switch on. I usually just turn the water pump switch on at the MDP and everything works (I assume you are talking about fresh water pump for the faucets, head, and shower). I did check if I just turned this switch on and found that the water pump does not come on (only unless the MDP switch is on too). Also my depth finder is integrated into my Smartcraft gauges so I don't have a switch for the depth finder on my helm.

So the mystery continues. Thanks again.

The same switchpads and EIMs were used on different models. For example on the 280 the squiggly box is the only water pump switch. My switch pad also contains a switch for the windshield vent that does not exist on the 280. I believe that it does nothing on your boat as your pump is controlled at the MDP.

The good news is that you can utilize these switches for other things, like underwater lights, electronics etc. All you have to do is trace the end from the appropriate EIM.

Henry, I think you are right. When I push this switch, nothing happens--no noise, no lights...nothing. I think I will leave it at that.

Here are the pictures of the both switch panels. The AFT ACC has been wired to the lights under the swim platform. Looks like I have 3 more switches for added accessories: FWD ACC, ACC 1, and ACC 2.

I have the exact same switchpads on the dash of my 02 280DA. Same part different applications.

The switches are working though. They flip a relay in the EIM box and energize the wire that comes out of the EIM. I leave all unused switches off to avoid having power in wires that 'go nowhere'.

Not for the water heater by chance?

Nope not for water heater. There is a switch for that in the MDP. Thanks for the suggestion.

By the way, I see your in St. Clair Shores. Great weather this weekend, eh?

I removed my canvas from my arch today. I don't think it's ever be removed. There was mold and dirt under the canvas that overlaps the arch. Cleaned and waxed the arch. All is good now.

yes, great weather. I like it when it is cool and low humidity. Those 90 degree days are murder. By the way I remember a while back that someone else asked about the same switch but I cannot remember the outcome.
