I noticed that I had some water in my bilge.
Normally it's dry, so I started looking.
My starboard shaft seal from Sureseal was dripping.

I have a extra seal in a carrier.
Now I need some tips how to get the best result out of this extra seal.
I know that Frank W has his thoughts about this extra seal option, and I believe him.
But because I have this extra seal anyway, I want to use it.
I have the type with the crossover feed.
Need some help with this job...

Thanks for your input.

Peter.

Thanks for your reply.
I know the site, and I did my reading.
But they describe it commercial, and easy.
In practice, I don't think it's that easy.
I need some tips from members who did this job.

The problem I see, is when I move the housing unit, the leaking get worser.
So I think it's not only the seal, but maybe also the bearing.
When I grabbed an injection fitting and pull the part sideways it leak more. Some leaking when side loaded is normal for Sure Seals. This is due to the larger tolerances used in the new parts.
But what is normal more leaking??

Thanks for the input.

Peter.

As Frank has surely advised you, the Tide's unit is less than desireable. Follow the instructions, it's close work under there but can be done.

Save yoiur pennies and next haul out replace those Tides units. They are heart aches.
