My name is Mr Happy & I have an addiction

Hello, firecadet613. The good weather is coming up. I put the boat in April 5th. My slip is now J54. I am in the middle of J dock. Hope you got what you wanted for your 185. When you do find your dream come look for us.

Four Winns are great boats. My first boat was a 170 Four Winns. Good friend sold me a 1988 Horizon for $1000. It got me addicted. Now I pay twice that just for a slip.

Which dock is the J dock? I was down there on the 3rd, giving the new owner of my boat a test ride. Monroe was up 16'! How are you in your slip already with the water that high?

We were the first ones out on J dock. J dock sits in 25 feet of water. The docks rise and fall with the lake level. We are going down Sunday to clean up the new slip space. I think I will go and look for eagles in the no wake zone

J dock is the long dock that runs parallel with the lake. It is the long dock that protects the marina.

Happy....welcome to the board...We keep our boat on Geist in Indy being close to the house...we have trailered to Patoka...only lived in the area just over a year. We asked a few neighbors about Monroe they say it is too busy on weekends. I usually go see for myself but was booked up last summer. Can you tell me what the lake is like in general which ramps to use.. things to see on the lake, places to anchor for the kids to swim

Hello and welcome to Indianapolis. I live in Carmel and it is exactly 83.4 miles to the Lake Monroe Four Winns Resort. It takes me 1 1/2 hours to get there but it is worth it. Indiana is not really a great state for inland waters. There are 2 different ramps at this park. This is a state park like most of the other ramps on this lake so you will have to pay a $4 entrance fee or buy a yearly state park pass for $36. Use this pass to go to Raccoon, Brookville, and a few other state parks.
There are a number of places to put in. The closest would be Paynetown State Recreation Area, it is probably 75 miles and 1 1/2 hours since you must go thru Bloomington. This ramp can accommodate 10 boats launching at the same time.

The lake can get a little busy on weekends but I know that Geist and Morse is crazy on the weekends. Since you have been to Patoka, Monroe is about the same size. What I like about Monroe is that it is the water is a lot cleaner than Morse of Geist. I remember last year they put a NO Swimming caution about August on Giest. Geist can also get too low to boat if there is a dry spell. Early last August Morse was shut down due to low water levels and most slip owners could not pull their boat out till middle of November. Lake Monroe Averages 25 feet.

The place to park and people watch is called Allens Creek about in the middle of the lake. On weekends it is the place to go. I like to go to the damn on the very southern end of the lake. Allens Creek is a great place but can get hot because there is no wind in this cove.

There are 812 slips at the Four Winns Marina and all of them are taken every year. I pay a little over $1,800 for April thru Oct. There are some big boats on this little lake, 1 mile by 12. Some guy put in a 2007 47 Sea Ray Sedan Bridge. Some serious change.

PM me if you have any other question or thoughts.

I, too, have an addiction: I love to save money. My first boat was a 1989 Classic 190 with a V-8. We broke even after owning it for four years. Our second was a '97 SR 250 Da. We did ok with that one after 10 years. We bought our 340 a little over 2 years used. We're doin' pretty well with that one so far.
